Another Saturday, and finally another Parkrun

My ribs have mostly healed, my groin injury is mostly better, I actually managed to get a decent nights kip, and my schedule finally allowed me time to actually join in with other parkrunners from around the world

I did previously mention at the start of the year about running at least 1 park run in every month this year. There were several other resolutions and plans, but most of those are on the back burner until the stars align to get them completed

This small and insignificant Park run goal, is something I CAN do at the moment... although with it being the last Saturday in March, I was running out of time, I had to go today.

I made an extra effort to go to bed at a 'normal' time last night, and so I woke up at 6:45 ish, feeling mostly fresh and ready. After a bit of tidying, and putting a load of washing on... I got my running kit on and headed out into the sunshine

And it was very sunshiny day today :-)

The 6th is highlighted, as that is the date of my upcoming race, looks like the weather gods will bless me next Sunday!

It was an easy and relaxed plod down to Boultham Park, the location of my local parkrun. There were over 400 hundred who had turned out, presumably all making most of the sunshine too

I suspect many will be taking part in the Lincoln 10km race next weekend too.

After an unnecessarily long briefing, we were instructed to head over to the start where we finally got underway at 9:05

The course is a 3 lapper, and with narrow tarmac paths all the way round, it does mean the first lap is pretty congested!

After half a lap, the field began to spread out, and I was able to find a little more rhythm. The pace was easy and slow for the most part, mostly as I was doing one of my longest runs in a while and wanted to make sure I could actually run all the way home again.

That said, I did pick up the pace a little near the end as I got a little carried away over taking the people in front of me, and I managed a reasonably strong finish.

Final Position - 163rd place... so out of 400 odd, thats just over halfway.

The official Parkrun message is that its an 'event' where we can all take part in our own way... but I usually treat it as a Race Time trial. 27 minutes is not overly speedy, but its better than I've managed recently

And more importantly, I was able to make it all the way back home again, for a total of 14km (including a tasty parkrun sandwich!)

For the res of the day I will be taking it easy do the effort. I've gt some admin to catch up on, along with a bit of revision for my accountancy course, and then I'll hopefully be talking to my partner later this evening.

Tomorrow will be for more active recovery, so there will be a walk into town to pick up my new glasses, and then a trip to the shops for food, and hopefully I will be able to give the lawn the first cut of the year as its pretty dry out there

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

That's a good workout. My parkrun is a little closer, but I can still warm up on the way there. I was marshalling today and we had 170 people, which is a good turnout for us. I think the weather helped with that. I shall do a long, gentle run tomorrow.

Enjoy your weekend.

Hey what a run! I am not sure I have seen much Strava on Hive yet but the report and race look awesome!

14k run is legit and tells me you are a REAL runner, not just someone who runs. Big props and congrats on finishing well up in the top half of runners!

Thank you!

there's a small group of us who mostly post to the exhaust community - we use an app called @strava2hive, which searches our activities on the strava app, and pulls them across so they appear on Hive (cleverly created by @run.vince.run)

To be fair, I think anyone who runs is a 'runner' - whether thats 2k, 5k or 20k. I do prefer to go longer distances, as being out moving for 1-2 hours+ really helps with my mental health etc.

Do you run? I see various posts on your page with long walks (or lots of steps via actifit). I like long walks too 🙂 I just prefer to run as I can go further and see more than I can do when walking!
