Afternoon Walk - 7km (active recovery, plus some updates)
@dannewton just finished a 6.97km walk, that lasted for 72 minutes.
This walk helped dannewton burn 530.0 calories.
Description from Strava: I swear time is going past quicker and quicker these days!
I'm sure it was only 'yesterday' when I wrote Sunday's post about my weekly running update... and it seems like I've blinked and it is already* Wednesday evening, and I'm now over halfway through the work week.
don't get me started on the fact that we are now in June, and rapidly approaching the halfway point of 2025!
As per the recent change to my running schedule, I run to/from work 4 days a week, and Wednesday is the 'rest day' in the middle to rest my little legs
Usually that means getting on the bus to travel to work and back, but recently I've decided to start walking home after work... partly to stretch my legs, partly for 'active recovery' but mostly cos it was a lovely afternoon in the sunshine. And to be fair, if I finish work at 4pm and walk straight home, I'm actually quicker than if I took the bus (the two buses have an annoying wait in between them)
You'll notice that the walk route is identical to the run route...
...and this is purely due to the fact that it is the shortest possible route I've found so far.
It is starting to become a little boring, so I think I'm going to experiment with some slight variations, particulary on the run home. I need to get to work at 7:30am (so I can shower and change before starting at 8am) so there is very little room for flxibility.
I'd have the time in the afternoon to increase the distance a little
Even the change above, where I run through a different part of town and along the top of south common, would be a welcome variation
This is an option too, heading up canwick hill and along the bypass home, and would only add a couple of km to my final route
Besides, as I'm now getting comfortable on my current route, I think its high time to add some variety into it!
In other news, I finally managed to book some time off work. Theres gonna be a week off at the start of July, and then a 2nd week to take in the middle of August. The first week will be a midweek break down near Kidderminster to look for butterflies. The 2nd week isn't confirmed yet, but it will be up on the North East coast, somewhere near Scarborough/Whitby area.
I still need to plan these further, but it will be nice to have some holiday time to look forward to. And of course I'll try to plan some different running routes as well while I'm away, to make the most of some different scenery!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
