Afternoon Run - 6.63km - 00:43:31
@dannewton just finished a 6.63km run, that lasted for 42 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 552.0 calories.
Description from Strava: The cover image shows a range of backpacks, which I was looking at while I was in town yesterday (I had nipped in on the way home from work). I am planning to go away for my birthday in November for a few days, with a couple of days up in Carlisle with my partner, followed by 2 days staying in the Peak District. I know its only a small thing, but I just fancied marking the occasion somehow... I enjoy being outdoors and moving, so I thought this would be a nice little treat for myself
It's also quite rare for me to actually spend any money on myself like this, especially with the last 3 years being so tight financially while my partner is at uni
As part of my preparations to go away I need to find something to carry the stuff I need for 4 nights... we have suitcases, but I'd rather have a backpack, just feels easier and more comfortable. My current pack pack is only 30L, so won't cut it. I plan to go for a couple of trail runs in the hills in the Peak District, so the bag needs to fit all my running gear (and trail shoes!) along with clothes/chargers etc
I was tight on time as I passed through town, and there wasn't a great deal of choice until I found the last shop - Mountain Warehouse
To cut a long story short, I was stuck between 2 choices:
Bag 1 - 80L - £95.00
Bag 2 - 65L - £44.00
Having never done something like this before, I found it really hard to chose... I don't want the massive bag and then not have enough stuff to fill it, nor did I want the smaller bag and risk not having enough space!
In the end the saleswoman came to my rescue and said that as long as I don't take the tags of and kept the receipt, I can always bring my choice back and exchange for a different bag. With that in mind, I went for the smaller cheaper one, with a few to trying to pack it over the weekend with what I expect to take on my trip
Shoes and books for scale*
That way, if I struggle to get anything in, I know to come back and swap it for a bigger one.
So that was yesterday (wednesday), which was a rest day i.e. no running, and getting the bus to work and back home. Today I was pback to being more active...with another easy walk in to work this morning, and another easy zone 2 effort run home again. There were a few spots of rain on the way home, but it was largely dry. I know we have more rain to come through, as 'Storm Amy' hits the UK over the weekend
I've checked the weather forcast for tomorrow afternoon... it looks flippin awful!
I'm gonna be absolutely soaked running in that! The only good thing is that hopefully the storm will blow through and be gone by Sunday, so I can enjoy my 1/2 Marathon Race in nice, pleasant sunshine
Crossing ALL my fingers at the moment!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
