dannewton just finished a 10.49km run, that lasted for 59 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 840.0 calories.

Description from Strava: After the disappointing attempt at speedwork on Tuesday (where I basically ran too quick for the length of the segment) and therefore ended up not being able to maintain that pace for each rep...

as my partner so aptly put it it: "I ran out of puff".

Todays attempt was different, I decided to keep a slightly higher pace than I normally would, and aimed to maintain that for the whole session. My usual relaxed ish pace is round about 6:00min/km, and today I managed to average 5:38min/km for the whole of the 10km run, and it felt pretty good.

On of my goals this year is to run the Half-marathon in under 2 hours. To do that I will need an average pace of 5:30min/km, so I suppose I'm not too far off that. Admittedly I only did 10km today whereas the Half is over double that.

I still need some practice.

I also need an event too!

And I found one. Here in Lincoln (about 3 miles from where I live, there is a Half-marathon that will take place. It is surprisingly hilly considering how flat the rest of the county of Lincolnshire is, but I'm sure I'll be able to work that out. It isn't until September though which may seem ages away, but I'm sure it'll soon come round. Besides, it'll give me chance to improve my pace so I can beat the 2 hour target.

In the process of buying my ticket, I also found a local Marathon, or I should say Two local Marathon events. One in Boston in April, and the other in Skegness in March. Not sure which one to aim for, but I rather fancy a trip out along the coast...

although in March, its gonna be a bit chilly with that sea breeze!

Its only 6 weeks away, but I'm already confident I'd be able to complete it. I'm just trying to weigh up if it would better to wait 4 weeks and do the Boston Marathon instead*

*er... to be clear I don't mean the hugely well known event in the USA, I'm referring to a pokey little place in Lincolnshire ;-)

Anyway, while I'm deciding, I'll keep on training regardless. I think I'm gonna go for a long walk to Sherwood Forrest on Saturday, and then on Sunday will be the weekly Long Run (I'll decide the distance depending on how far I end up walking on Saturday)

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
