dannewton just finished a 9.29km run, that lasted for 63 minutes.
This run helped dannewton burn 713.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
Yep, that would be me...

I'm the dumbass

To be fair, it was a bit of a crap weekend to be honest, and that has carried over into Monday. And I've been so distracted with my partner going away, and stuff I need to get sorted, and issues with bank accounts and then work guff today... that I'm evidently not paying attention.

After finishing work and getting changed, I headed out for a generic slow Zone 2 run out along the bypass and back. Something felt amiss, and I couldn't work out what the hell it was...

At the the halfway point, I stopped to take that cover photo above, and then I happened to glance at my shoes...

Wait a sec, why am I wearing these?

Yes these Nike's are 'techincaly' running shoes, but I only use them for walking in. They are only a cheapo pair of shoes that I bought to use at a Gym, before I decided that going to the gym sucked.

The blue ones below are my running shoes, and I've been using them all the way through my injury recovery, why on earth would I suddenly use the Nike ones now?!

It might just be me over analysing it, but I think my calf is feeling a little sore because of it. A different shoe has a different structure, shape, cushioning, heel drop height...

Unfortunately I was already at halfway by the time I realised it, so I had no option but to run back home. I did take it a little easier on the way back just to be sure.

After finishing a run, my watch shows a series of screens, the 1st showing time (total and average pace), 2nd shows distance, and the 3rd gives an anaylsis of 'training' status.

This is often 'productive' or 'maintaining'. Sometimes I get recovery when I back off from training (I got plenty off those during the injury phase).

Today was a new one... Peaking.

Well, there you have it... due to the recent productive training, followed by an easier week of training, apparently I am now in tip-top condition for 'racing'...

Now... if only I had a race to enter!

I have no idea how long this phase will last, but at least the watch thinks that me taking a little bit of time off has benefitted my fitness... which to be fair is what I was aiming for!

The rest will give my body a chance to consolidate and absorb the recent training effects, and fingers crossed will give me a stronger base to push on again as I begin to increase the training load once again.

So the rest of my life might be busy and hectic and stressful and worrying and causing me grief, but at least my training is positive and heading in the right direction!

And just to return to todays session, I actually felt really flippin' good out there today, the strides were stronger and more deliberate, and the average pace showed that. Bring on the next run :-)

Note to self: next time Dan, make sure you wear the right flippin' shoes!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)

It is much easier for a person to have good quality shoes when going for a walk and running every day. Great struggle.
