A frosty run

I just finished a 5.284km running that lasted about 0hh:33mm:38ss !

TL;DR - Don't let the sun fool you, it's flipping freezing out there!

Cor, that was chilly! Needed a hat and some gloves and everything. Nearly had to resort to trousers, but decided shorts were fine, and about halfway round, I'm glad I stuck with shorts.

The bigger issue was the rain overnight, which turned into freezing fog this morning. And even though the fog had cleared by the time I headed out, it was only 3C and with windchill it felt like 0C. This meant that any ice that had appeared overnight, was still around in patches, so I took my time this morning. I stuck to the road where I could, as the surface was flatter and more consistent than the path, which slopes and undulates near peoples driveways. After slipping a little bit at the beginning I quickly remembered to avoid the road markings (white and yellow lines) as these were slippier than the surrounding road.

The light of the sun had melted patches, so I tried to avoid the frost/ice patches where I could. But even so, it was a slow pace today. And because of the conditions, I stuck to the boring village 'loop' just because it seemed safer. And at the end of the run, the fog started to roll back in... looks like its gonna stick around for the rest of the day.

After a couple of nearly-slips at the beginning I made it round with out any injuries, and in fact the only niggle at the moment is that my left arm is sore. I had the covid booster jab thing yesterday, and so far the only side effects is a sore arm (which made sleeping really annoying). I didn't particularly want the booster, and I wasn't technically forced to have it, but the obligation is now almost socially expected.

I was free to say No of course, but we all know that 'Freedom of Choice' is an illusion, eh?

Anyway. Run done, feeling reasonable and just had some tasty vegetable soup for lunch to warm me up...

Time to crack on with the rest of the day (mostly more photo editing if anyone is curious)

Need to be careful when it's icy like this. It doesn't seem to matter what shoes you wear and not worth risking a fall. Take care!
