Long Run 90' | 15/1/202

Yoyoyo Runners !

Today was a special Thursday, as I didn’t do my usual Thursday interval workout. Instead, I scheduled my Long Run, since this Sunday (18/1) I’ll be racing my first 5K.
The day started almost like any other, but because I couldn’t fit the workout in the morning or midday due to classes at university, I ended up running in the afternoon.

Workout Timeline: // Check out my workout on Strava here.

  • 90' (5:30/km)

More details:
Overall, it wasn’t a particularly tiring session, except for the last 10–15 minutes when I felt a bit of pressure in my knees. I believe this was mainly because I didn’t get enough sleep the night before—only about 4–5 hours.
That said, it was a really nice route. I didn’t do the workout at the track but instead ran through the city along the seaside, and it was honestly a great experience, especially seeing other athletes out running as well.
I also set my 3rd best time at 15K (1:23:08, 5:33/km) and at 10 mile (1:29:19, 5:33/km).

From here on:
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m really looking forward to Sunday’s race. My main goal is definitely a sub-22’, although I’d love to go sub-21’—we’ll see how it feels on race day.
The next races I’ve already signed up for (or will soon) are:

  • 5th Koumaria Trail Series (12K, 700D+) — my first trail race, on 1/2

  • 4th Patras Half Marathon on 29/3

  • It’s also very likely that I’ll add another race in between, one that takes place every year toward the end of February in the city where I grew up (11.5K).

I wish everyone the best of luck—never give up, and always stay healthy!!!
