As part of the celebrations for Cumaná's 510th anniversary, work was carried out around El Tamarindo, a small garden was created to bring more life to the space, and everything was painted and decorated to match the ornamentation of the Plaza Miranda located opposite. I still remember when, very early every morning, the place was very busy because newspapers, horse racing magazines, and coffee were sold there, but now social media and technology have left the print media behind.
I hadn't noticed that they had made a commemorative plaque for this tree for standing there for so long, accompanying the people of Cumaná on their journey from a dirt road to the modern city it is today. A silent witness to so much history and so many experiences, this tree reminds us that nature is also life. This hundred-year-old tamarind tree is part of our culture and identity and, as such, should be preserved until the end of its days.

En Cumaná hay un árbol muy antiguo, tanto que es un referente para todos los habitantes de la ciudad, se trata de El Tamarindo, el cual está ubicado cerca de la Plaza Miranda y el Teatro Luis Mariano Rivera. El famoso árbol ha permanecido en el mismo sitio durante más de un siglo, así que varias generaciones lo han visto.
