In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Thanksgiving is a divine expectation. The Bible never said give thanks for everything, for everything is not good. But instead, the Bible says we should give thanks in everything, in the good, in the bad, in the not do good, in the ugly, in the messy give thanks.

For we know that all things work together for good for them that love God, so regardless of what we are going through, it is expected that we give thanks because it is an expectation from us to God for the things he has done, the things he is going to do and including the challenges we are facing in life because He is sure by our side to walk through with us to the very end.

That is why God ensures our Thanksgiving because He is sure doing His job while seated on His throne in the Heavenly places above principalities and powers.
