MID WEEK CHAMPION LEAGUE RECAP
The first leg of the semi-final phase of UEFA champions league returns during the week, with four of the remaining teams locking horns with each other during the week on their way to the grand finale in France at Stade De France, Paris
)Arguably their as been lot of exciting features to talk about in the champions league this season, with lot of great come backs ,most especially for the Santiago Bernabéu team Real Madrid on two occasions had to come back against Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea.
Definitely Realmadrid have not really been on their best in some matches,but arguably they have done well enough to push through to the semi-final stage of the competition, they also sit comfortably on the log in la Liga with few matches left
Definitely their is high hope that the Bernabéu landlord will likely un-sit their Madrid rivals Atletico as the champion of Spain
On the other hand Pep Guardiola Manchester city of England as been very prolific this season,with lot of exciting results in the champions league, Manchester city who lost to Chelsea in the final last season will be hoping to redeem themselves after finding their way to the semi-final of the champions league.
Also Pep Guardiola will be hoping to lift his first champions league trophy since he left Barcelona too.
Manchester city Vs Realmadrid
During the week it was a cracker as both teams played against each other at the Etihad Stadium stadium to see who will have the edge in the return leg in Madrid, Manchester city put up a very good display , thanks to goals from K. De Bruyne ,'G. Jesus , P. Foden and B. Silva for Manchester city and a valid response from Realmadrid, with goals two goals from thier in-form France International K. Benzema and a goal from V. Júnior makes it a seven goal thriller with Manchester city wining on the night, Making the score line 4:3 in England
All eye will now be in Madrid as City will be hoping to redeem themselves and progress to the final for the second time in two years.
On the other round, it was Liverpool against Villarreal in the second match of the champions league during the week
The Spanish side as been a surprising team to talk about in this year champions league after edging out they likes of Juventus and the high scoring German team Fc Bayern Munich to have book a date with Jürgen Klopp Liverpool team
Liverpool on their own side is on quest for multiple glory this season after wining the league cup in England and also finding their feet to the final of the Premier league FA cup.
Honestly Liverpool as indeed been on the best form of their life, even with a very hot pressure given to league leaders Manchester city in the Premier league,they have all it takes to fight for glory this season.
)Liverpool Vs Villarreal
The semi final match between Liverpool and Villarreal was a cracker with the Estadio de la Cerámica landlord giving all it takes, which makes the match to end in a goaless draw in the first half.
Two quick second half goal ,with an own goal by Villarreal defender Estupiñán in the 53 minutes and a perfect picked up from Salah by S. Mané in the 55 minute gave Liverpool the victory in the first leg
Liverpool will now be hoping to finish the task ahead of them when they visit Villarreal at Estadio de la Cerámica next week in Spain as to know who will finally go through to the final in France.
A very huge task for Unai Emery and his boys come next week as they hope to give all it takes for them to play at the champions league final in France.
