It is a cathartic process for me. I grew up splitting firewood, from the time I could swing a sledge hammer and hit the wedges. I have always had the same "nervous energy" and I think my parents used splitting wood as a way to get me to work some off. I grew to enjoy the splitting and now it is for my family and my home so it has taken on a bit more meaning. Plus there is just something about the heat from a fireplace that is super comforting.

You will have to give the old maul some swings when you get there, you might just surprise yourself!
