Steel horse

I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride, I'm wanted...dead or alive

- Bon Jovi -

Ok, so it's actually steel and plastic and rubber...and it's technically not a horse at all, but one rides it so fuck it, I'm calling it a horse.

You know when you get the urge to do something and you're all antsy and on edge until you do it? Well, I wanted needed to go for a ride, to hit the trails, and nothing was going to stop me; well...maybe a cataclysmic event and global apocalypse might have stopped me but if I'm honest I want that to happen so I'd be ok with that getting in the way. 😶

I've had some time off work between roles after leaving one and accepting (and now beginning) another. I wanted to detach for a while and spent some time doing some stuff I've not had the chance to get to for a while, it was a sort of re-set, and riding helps me do that so I thought fuck it, that's what I'm going to do...it'd been far too long since the last time and I'd been far too responsible (work focused); it was time to cut loose and kick up some dirt.

You can see my truck above, hooked up to the bike trailer which I collected from my storage facility (a big old automotive manufacturing factory converted to storage for rent) prior to heading home to pack and prepare for a trip away the following day - more to come on that trip in another post down the track - it was a good one, I'll elaborate later. (I may even do a post on the motorbike hauler as well.)

How do you detach from the grind of work, general commitments or your every day life? I like relaxing, gardening, reading, hiking and being in natural places, spending time at home with my girl-human and many other things...but I also like being adventurous, pushing limits and being a boy, so I do more dynamic stuff like motorbike riding and as well.

Tell me how you do it in the comments below if you want.

I use to feel relaxed in a Jawa Motorbike I had from a job I had as well. Tension kind od disappeared with some highway speed, but that was some years ago. Lately I've had some unespected, unplanned and unespected detachs and sort of resets. Jobs here are now hard to find even qualified. But that aside, when I need to reset or have a break from work(I like work that keep my mind occupied though, not that here there is a lot to do when not, and also mind os always busy-work or not-).then a nature trip would be nice (beach, mountains, camping), phisical worl relaxs me as well though. My work line has always been for my brain, so my body is there always complaining and claiming some work, I used to give him that before the accident (jawa crush), not that I'm unable now, my knee suffered but she's alright enough to run(that's what I did the most amd enjoyed with my headphones and some rock hoghwaing). Now I don't have the time(circumstances) because of some kind of war awe are fighting now. Anyway, smoke and dust through the mirror while speeding ahead is awsome.

Nature trips are the best way to re-set and find a little detachment from the "every day grind" and I do that stuff too.

Here's what I'll do, you let me know when you're coming down here and I'll take you dirt bike riding, camping and hunting, I reckon you'd enjoy it.

Surely I'd enjoy it and surely I'll let you know with lots of time so can set the whole thing up to go for that dirt bike ride.

It's good that I had a present as well to be even, but that he'll see later when the post goes up.

Damn!!!

I'll provide the dirt bike...but if you end up in hospital I'm not paying for that. 🤣

In my case, I like to relax by watching sports competitions, reading, listening to music or simply sleeping.

As for the bike, I don't have one and I don't even know how to ride it.

Have a nice weekend.

Cheers and best regards.

Watching sports is a legit way to spend the weekend, I do it sometimes too!

I amuse myself by writing articles on the computer, listening to music, watching movies, in short, looking for something exciting to live.

Nothing quite like a good ride now and then, although cleaning up can be a chore.

I haven’t had that full-on dirt ride moment yet, but I can already imagine how cool it’ll be when my daughter’s old enough and we can hit some trails together.

Yeah, that'll be cool. Get your daughter a dirt bike and hit those trails!

You have done a nice set up for an adventure trip, riding that trailer on the back, needs any extra caution ? Do you go solo or someone with you ? I love to travel to detach from from the grind of work, at times go to native, have fun with friends, party etc.

I don't usually go solo, it can be problematic when things go wrong, although I have in the past a time or two.

Go for a bike ride is a sure way to take a break from work expecially if you go off road

Usually I just go for fairs, seaside or just a walk but no big breaks or trips, kid too small

Yeah I guess having kids makes it a bit hard to do whatever, whenever, but they're their own reward I suppose too.

Yeah, as everything it has bad and good sides... When he will grow it will be easier

I never had any children, just never happened for me, but I would have liked to. Not going to happen now though and I'm at peace with it.

Sometimes it's just destiny for how hard we try... For me it was a total luck because chances were very low... Of course one can try adoption but that stuff it's all messed up and a money eat machine

Well, I don't have the daily grind anymore, but to change things up I get out in the flower garden or work in the yard. On a rare occassion, if I can find someone who will go with me, I hit a fishing hole. I enjoy watching a movie with the wife, or binge watching a series on occasion. Cooking on the grill is also a nice change of pace, which I will be doing today for Mother's Day.

Enjoy that dirt and as always, stay safe.

I like all of your things and do them too.

We just started watching Schitt's Creek for the first time last night and think it's pretty funny...We won't binge it but...ah fuck it, probably will binge it.

It can be hard not to binge something when you like it. We started the Pitt and almost could't stop.

If the zombie apocalypse had come.... it would have been so much fun to see the headless zombies...I'm imagining too much haha

It's great that you were able to unwind and relax. In my case a lot of things do that, my cats... they have to come first, but then hiking, exploring, nature, cooking, listening to music, walks, seeing new places but most of all my imagination is a private place where I lose myself!

My downtime is spent productively preparing for the apocalypse; working out, growing food, practicing with my toy guns and learning homeopathy.

That sounds like a good way to spend some time although I'm not sure what you mean by, "toy guns."

That's a pretty cool trailer. I don't think I have ever seen one like that and we have a lot of trails in Michigan that people ride stuff like that on. You can never head north on the main highway without passing at least a dozen people towing their off road vehicles. Actually, most of the time they are the ones passing you!

Yeah, it's awesome. 200l water, (hot water for shower as well), pull out kitchen, 95L fridge, inverter, independent suspension (air adjustable for levelling and height), 2600L of storage, lights, batwing awning, rooftop tent and more. A nifty bit of kit for sure. 1100 Tare weight and tows like a dream. Fully Australian made.

What a fkn unit of a trailer. Lucky you've got that GVM upgrade, right?

It's legit, and a TARE weight of only 1100kg so a treat to tow.

One time and once only mounted iron horse, it bolted I spilled to ground dazed, ripped shirt, shin split open, yup not for me! Go have a great time....

Two feet and bush is the ultimate, melting in knowing danger could lurk around any corner puts you on and in the spot simultaneously, best stress relief and break from daily shit.
