PFA Premier League Team of the year is not justified.

A few days ago, I shared my sentiment about Reuben Diaz winning the Premier League defender award for the 2021/22 season ahead of Joao Cancelo but some people do not see things from my perspective which isn't bad because we have the right to think differently and make decisions that differ as well.

This is not about Cancelo or Dias anymore and I am just going to be pointing out a few biased decisions made by the Premier League team committee in charge of awards.

I am sure many have seen the PFA Premier League Team of the year, it baffles me how a player who got the best defender award didn't make the Premier League team of the season. Aside from this, the list doesn't look justified to me.

Every player on the list has done great in helping their teams achieve success in the just-concluded season, the list leaves me stuck between if the award is given to a player based on individual performance or team success. To my understanding, it should be more on individual performance and how it has contributed to the team's success.

Allison Becker. (GK)

What a fantastic goalkeeper he is, the Brazilian has done a lot of work this season which makes him fit into the Premier League team of the season. It should be a tough call between him and Manchester City goalkeeper because their stats are almost the same but Allison has more saves which put him ahead of Ederson. They have the same number of clean sheets but Ederson played a game more than Allison and who knows if that match could have made the Liverpool goalkeeper take a step above Ederson.

Another thing I find great with Allison is the ability to launch an attack for Liverpool, it helped a few times and I am certain that the team would appreciate him a lot of times for that.

Joao Cancelo (LB)

I wasn't expecting him to be on the team after he was robbed of the best defender award, the Portuguese International is one of the best players in the English Premier League at the moment. I always refer to him as an utility player, his ability to attack and defend at the same time is fantastic.

Cancelo has contributed to Manchester City success in the 2021/22 season, we have seen him create chances and even launch attacks for the team as well. He scored goals and even created assists, he is the kind of defender every team needs in their backline. He is skillful and fast, he deserves to be on the list.

Van Dijk (CB)

I named him the defense general and he has proven to be what Liverpool has been missing in defense for quite some time, his arrival in Liverpool has made a lot of impact on the team.

His presence in defense gives everyone on the team the opportunity to attack at the same time, Van Dijk is a solid wall for Liverpool. We saw how Liverpool suffered last season without him, they conceded 42 goals last season in his absence but it just 26 with Van Dijk in defense this season. He deserves to be on the list and there is no doubt about it.

Antonio Rudiger (CB)

The Chelsea defender who has secured a move to Real Madrid is a force to reckon with in Chelsea's defense. I would have loved to put Thiago Silva in that position, but comparing both players' statistics in the 2o21/22 season will make it difficult to choose who is better.

Having them both in defense is fantastic, they compliment each other efforts and helped the team a lot in the just-concluded season. Rudiger's physical advantage has been helpful while age isn't on Thiago Silva's side and I think he would have beaten Rudiger in all comparative if he was younger. Rudiger is still a fair choice and I admit he is okay on the list.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (LB)

He is the best defender this season, I don't know what the voting looks like or what criteria they need to pick the winner but he deserves to be considered judging by his performance in the league. Putting him on the Premier League team is not enough to complement his achievement in the Premier League in the 2021/22 season.

He scored twice and made 12 assists which makes him more of an attacking player than a defender, only Mohammed Salah made more assists than him. Trent contributed to Liverpool's success, he stepped up his game at crucial moments and deserves to be on the list.

Thiago Alcantara. (DM)

I disagree with Alcantara playing the defensive midfield role in the Premier League team, Fabinho should fit perfectly into the role. Thiago is a great player but Fabinho was outstanding, the role is confusing because I have seen Alcantara fall back to DM in many situations but that doesn't justify his spot in the team.

They are both utility players due to their support in defense and attack, Fabinho didn't get more chances like Alcantara but his stats still supersedes Thiago's stats for the season. I will choose Fabinho to give more results in that role than any other defensive midfielder in the Premier League.

Bernardo Silva (CM)

Bernardo Silva must have gotten on the list on merit, he is outstanding but having to play in a team like Manchester City must have earned him that spot.

If I am to choose based on individual performance, Bruno Fernandez should be on that list. Manchester United suffered a huge setback this season and it must have affected Bruno's rating this season but he is the best for the role of a Central Midfielder in the Premier League team of the season. Despite United's setback, he has scored more goals and assists in the premier league than Bernardo Silva. They both fit into the role but Bruno remains my favorite because he gave his best despite Manchester United's terrible season.

Kevin De Bruyne (AM)

Without argument, Kevin De Bruyne played a huge role in Manchester City's success, and he is the only player that I would suggest for that role.

The midfielder is creative and I doubt if any player in the EPL beats his ability at the moment.

Sadio Mane (LW)

Sadio Mane has been exceptional lately, his presence in attack gives defenders trouble but does that make him earn a spot in the Premier League team of the season?

Liverpool won two titles, and ended as the league runner-up in the league title and Uefa Champions League, thanks to Mane's contribution but he is not the right candidate for the Premier League (LW).

What would you say about a player who helped his team finish fourth on the table, scored 23 goals, and made seven assist in the 2021/22 season?

Heung-min Son outplayed Mane on an individual basis in the 2o21/22 season, and winning the golden boot tells how much effort he has applied this season. His stats beats Mane so I wonder why he wasn't on that list, I prefer Son to Mane even as a Liverpool fan.

Christian Ronaldo(CF)

Among the Premier League central forward this season, Ronaldo has been outstanding. The Portuguese forward was United's strength during the tough time, he singlehandedly gave them all three points on several occasions. I wonder where United might have ended if he wasn't in the team, and regardless of where they ended, Ronaldo has done a lot for the team.

Harry Kane was the closest to him but I still choose Ronaldo because Kane's chances of succeeding in that kind of Manchester United team would have been difficult but Ronaldo proved his worth as an individual player.

Mohammed Salah (RW)

He is no doubt the best player in the English Premier League in 2021/22, leading the goal scorer and assists chart has proven how much impact he has had on the Liverpool team this season.

There isn't much to say about the man who has bagged numerous awards this season, he deserves to be on the list and I don't see him stopping this incredible performance anytime soon.

This should be the real line up of the PFA Premier league team of the season.

These are just my thoughts, I believe the board has better reasons for selecting these players, and I respect their opinions. I am looking forward to seeing these players produce more outstanding performances in the coming season.

Bruno Fernandes over Bernado Silver? I'm guessing you're a manchester United fan.

Bernado was easily one of the best players this season while bruno struggled to create chances in a team that finished the season with a 0 goal difference.

Bruno didn't also have a decent spell in the FPL

I am a Liverpool fan and if Bruno was in a team with a form as good as Manchester City this season, he would have done very much better.

Despite Bruno poor rating, he scored more goals and did more assist than Bernado Silva.

Fair but we can hardly judge Bruno based on goals and assists, considering that Bruno is on penalties.

Thats true, he steps up for Manchester United penalty always but none of his premier league goal this season came from the spot kick. I respect your opinion, thanks a lot.

That's nice. This sort of data could come in handy if you're an FPL player
