My Actifit Report Card: January 23 2024 Over 10,000 steps! / 久しぶりの一万歩超え（English＆Japanese）

【English】

Yesterday I went to a juku (cram school) in front of the station to pick up the results of the mock exam my elder son took last week. I usually travel by bicycle, but yesterday it was raining on and off, so I decided to walk.

My son is currently considering taking the junior high school entrance exam, and I have been sending him to juku since he was in 3rd grade... but the results of the mock exams have rarely been good. I mean, I feel that the test questions are very difficult even for me as an adult... In the 3rd and 4th grades, I used to teach him (more enthusiastically than now), but recently, to be honest, I have somewhat lost my enthusiasm.

Of course, I will continue to send him to juku, as I believe that studying is a good thing in itself. But lately, I feel that as long as he wakes up every day in good spirits, eats his meals, and goes to school happily, that is good enough for me. He loves school. The other day he came home with a look on his face like it was the end of the world, and I wondered what was going on, and he said, "It sucks... Tomorrow the class is closed because of the flu... " he said. I couldn't help but laugh. Class closure is the worst? Children are usually happy when school is closed.

Recently he has been playing with his friends every day after school, and I am not sure if it is a good idea to cut back on that time to let him study or not. Of course, the results of this mock exam were not good, but I thought it would be best if he could enjoy his life.

These photos were taken this morning. Yesterday and today were relatively warm and I was lightly sweating when I walked fast. I walked to the station area and made a U-turn while listening to my favorite music on the Sony Walkman I bought the other day. The flower beds in the park are planted with beautiful triangles of flowering kales.

I walked quite a bit yesterday because the rain prevented me from biking. It was the first time in a long time that I exceeded 10,000 steps! Yay!

【Japanese】

昨日は先週長男が受けた模試の結果を受け取りに、駅前にある塾まで行ってきました。私は普段自転車移動が多めですが、昨日は雨が降ったり止んだりの変な天気だったので、歩いていくことにしました。

長男は一応中学受験を検討していて、小3の頃から塾に通わせていますが…　模試の結果が良かったことはほとんどありません。というか、テストの問題は大人の私が見てもすごく難しい気がします。3、4年生の頃は私も（今よりは）熱心に教えたりしていましたが、最近は正直なところ少し冷め気味です😅

もちろん勉強すること自体は良いことだと思っているので引き続き塾には通わせますが、毎日元気に起きてご飯を食べて、楽しく学校に行ってくれれば良いような気がしている今日この頃です。長男は学校が好きで、先日この世の終わりのような顔で帰ってきたので何事かと思ったら、「最悪だ… インフルエンザで明日学級閉鎖だって…」と言うので崩れ落ちそうになりました。学級閉鎖なんて、普通喜ぶところでは？！

最近は放課後毎日のように友達と遊ぶようになり、その時間を削ってまで勉強させるのが良いことなのかどうなのか、分からなくなってしまったというのもあります。案の定、今回の模試の結果も良くはありませんでしたが、楽しく生活できるのが一番かなと。

写真は今朝のものです。昨日、今日は比較的暖かく、速足で歩くと軽く汗ばむほどでした。先日買ったSONYのウォークマンでお気に入りの音楽を聴きながら、駅周辺まで歩きＵターンして戻ってきました。公園の花壇には葉牡丹が綺麗な三角形に植えられています。

雨のため自転車移動ができなかったことで、昨日の歩数はかなり伸びました。久しぶりの10,000歩超えです！
