Dear friend, πŸ™‹

How are you doing? How was your Thursday? Good I hope! 🌻

After yet more bureaucracy on the Wednesday, Thursday was errand and shopping day. It was a great feeling to pay for food shopping and a few other bits and bobs, with money (or rather Hive) that I had earned right here! πŸ‘πŸ’ƒπŸ˜Ž πŸ˜‰

These citrus fruit are a little display that my Cheque friend working in the local English restaurant 'Mad Cow' set up! Apparently people often mention that they like it! She told me she couldn't understand why! I said "I don't know, it has a 'je ne sais quoi!'" πŸ˜…

Thanks for reading, take care and keep stepping! πŸ˜·πŸ‘£πŸ˜‰

I always wondered what are bits and bobs? Such a strange expression. πŸ€” can you have bobs without the bits?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Cheers !wine

You got me wondering where the expression came from too! Apparently you can have bobs without bits! Although then you wouldn't be able to drill! (Also Bobs of course, but that depends on how many Roberts you have in the vicinity! lol) "Bits and Bobs also is English slang for a collection of small items too numerous or varied to name individually. It originated from carpenters' tool kits containing parts for a drill, with bits used for making holes while bobs are routing or screwdriving drill attachments."
There you go, we've both learnt something new today!
Make good use of the friend boost gadget I purchased for you! ;)
Have a great week!

It is interesting as it's one of those expressions we use that always go in pairs. You don't hear someone saying, I am going out to get some bobs. It wouldn't make sense to anyone.

It's a bit like nooks and crannies. 😁

Thanks for the friend boost. I have given you another one too. Enjoy 😊

No it wouldn't! lol
Now you got me curious again so here goes:
"The idiom originated in the 14th century and it combines 'nook', being used from mid-1300s which means – a distant corner, with 'cranny' in usage since 1440 which means – a crack or gap." I bet the castles back in the day were full of nooks and crannies! lol I suppose they could be used separately, although we're so used to them together, it wouldn't sound right! 😁
Thanks for the friend boost! Confirm my friendship request on @actifit and you will be automatically included in my friend boost rota! ;)

I like the way you are researching the meaning - they are fun expressions.

By dribs and drabs we will cover all the expressions?

Yes they are!
OK here's todays:
"Definition of dribs and drabs
informal. : small amounts that come or happen over a period of time They received donations in dribs and drabs.
Definition of drib:

: a small amount β€”usually used in the phrase dribs and drabs.

Where does the phrase dribs and drabs come from?
The first example in the Oxford English Dictionary is from a glossary of the dialect of Craven in Yorkshire of 1828 with that meaning: β€œHe's gain away for good, and he's left some drabs.” [He has gone away for ever and he's left some debts.]"
