The NBA Saeson is Over... Let The Offseason Madness Commence!

So last night the OKC Thunder beat the Indiana Pacers in an NBA Finals no one really saw coming (at least for Indiana) and most people didn't want. It lacked the star power to bring in casual fans. Don't believe me? Try asking someone random at work who doesn't follow sports who SGA is? I'm guessing they will think its a K-Pop star or rapper. He was by far the best player in the series and even I found him kind of boring. He just calmly and robotically dismantles the other team in the most clinically surgical way I have seen in quite a while. So there were no "Wow" players but lots of very, very , very good ones. It was true team basketball which is what I have always preferred. I didn't know it until now but i guess I wanted some more "wow" mixed in with my team game.

So what did we learn from this NBA season?

#1 you can strengthen and hone every muscle in your body, but there is still no way to increase the strength of human tendons... especially the Achilles Tendon.

#2 The NBA Eastern Conference is going to be absolute hot garbage next year. If you are not convinced, go back to point #1. Three of the best teams in the East all lost a star player to an Achilles tear which is an injury that takes a full year to heal. The Conferences best team, the Celtics, lost their best player Jayson Tatum. The Pacers, who made it to the Finals most likely will not be defending their Eastern Conference Championship after their star player Tyrese Haliburton blew out his Achilles Tendon early in last night's game. And the failed pairing of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard in Milwaukee got even worse when Lillard tore his Achilles at the start of the playoffs.

#3 The New York Knicks and Orlando Magic (who added Desmond Bane to an up-and-coming team) are going to battle it out to be the King of the Dumpster Fire formally known as the NBA Eastern Conference.

#4. The Rockets solidified themsleves as the second best team in the west by finally adding a #1 in Kevin Durant. And they did it without gutting their team.

Every one of these guys is coming back and getting better. Yikes!

#5. Anyone hoping to have a shot at an NBA Championship not named the OKC Thunder are SCREWED. One of the only reasons this Finals was even a contest was OKC's inexperience. They are the 2nd youngest team ever to make it to the NBA Finals and basically their entire team is coming back. They are not going to lose any starters or significant role players. They were so smart to add Caruso and Hartenstein to do the dirty work and clear the way for SGA and company. This could be the first real dynasty the NBA has seen in quite a while. Now obviously anyone can blow out an Achilles Tendon at any time so they could always fail miserably, but I'll take their roster over anyone else in the NBA and it isn't even close. They are actually going to add to their roster next year. They could be terrifying!

#6. Defense matters! Yay! Both of the teams in the Finals played very tough defense. In fact, although SGA had a great game last night, I'd argue it was OKC's defense, especially in the fourth quarter that won them the game and ultimately the championship. Offense is cool and sells tickets, but if you want to win, you still need to play D!

Ok no let's have some trades! I'm rooting for the Bulls to trade everyone not named Matas Buzelis and Josh Giddey.

So what are your thoughts on this season or next year?

First of all, congratulations to the Oklahoma City Thunder for winning the championship. Injuries were and will continue to be a part of the game, so in such a long season, it's necessary to hire good substitutes to give the starters their well-deserved rest. It makes sense that OKC could start a dynasty because they have a young core with a lot of room for improvement, and at the same time, as I already said, some veteran players will want to play there because it's very likely they'll fight for more championships.

This is the happiest moment for fans who have supported a team from the beginning and the team also works very hard so that when we win, the name of our country and city will be famous and especially the people who have supported us are very happy and everything is recorded in the camera and then remembered for the rest of their lives.

onestly I kinda loved the ‘no superstar, just team ball’ vibe. It reminded me of the old Spurs days. SGA isn’t flashy, but maaaan that guy is smooth with it!

Thunder up!

I see what you say about the superstars missing and SGAs game not having wow factor but I think he’s one of those guys who can play but the NBA doesn’t market him very well. He’s seems to be I a position like Khawi or Tim Duncan, a quiet guy who plays good fundamental basketball on a small market team. At times it seemed the NBA marketed popavich more than Tim. But shoutout to SGA, I hope he keeps lighting teams up.

And something my high school coach used to say in the early 2000s, “ Those’d low to p shoes don’t have any ankle support”

This sucks to point out but Achilles injuries in low top shoes:

  • Halliburton
  • Dame Lillard
  • Jason Tatum
  • KD
  • Kobe

It’s probably not all about the shoes but there could be something there. LeBrons signature shoes throughout his career have been high tops and he’s been about as injury free of a player that you can be…

But yeah, great post.

And again, Thunder up!

I hope that your beloved Bulls get a good draft pick and make some trades to see if they can get back to the team they were when they were led by His Majesty MJ, although I was looking at the top 30 picks and well, there are several teams with 2 of them and Brooklyn, I think, has 4 of those, not among the first, but they are first-round picks, so in the near future they could put together a good team. I also noticed that OKC has two more, they could be much stronger and we could be in the presence of a dominant team for the next 2, maybe 3 years.

Every single time I see an Achilles tear I cringe because I know I’m next. My dad tore both of his. I’m hoping it’s not too genetic. lol.

What a horrible injury though. A full year on the sideline.

I didn’t expect OKC and the Pacers in the Finals either, but it was cool seeing real team basketball for a change.
