Manchester Derby
What a super Sunday guys. The football events of this week we're top-notch and entertaining to watch. Last night Liverpool won by a goal against West Ham and moved a step closer to equaling their point against Manchester City.
I knew City would not give up easily and watched Liverpool close down the grab. The Manchester Derby was a sure win for City, even with their upcoming UCL game against Sporting CP. City was sure to win against United to keep their lead for the EPL Title on.
The first goal of the derby was scored in the 5th minute, an early goal from City. Bernardo Silva crossed the ball into the box as De Bruyne took a shot into the goalpost. De Bruyne's goal-scoring contributions for City have been impressive lately. I thought he was more of a playmaker than a goalscorer. I guess he decided to switch up.
United had to play without Ronaldo in the Manchester derby. I was surprised because this is the kind of match Ronaldo would love to participate in. Maybe he's keeping him fit for their UCL match against Atletico Madrid.
Manchester United levelled the scoreline at the 22nd minute of the first half. Sancho struck an incredible shot outside the box as the ball passed the goalkeeper and entered the lower corner of the goal post. Manchester City was quick to respond 8 minutes later. De Bruyne got the lead back. De Gea made two saves but the danger was still there as De Bruyne capitalized on the free ball and played it into the top corner of the goalpost. The first half ended and City led by just a goal.
The Second half was all about Manchester City. These guys know how to play football. Their stats were incredible, having 70 percent of ball possession and playing a total of ten shots on target while United had just two. City controlled the field.
De Bruyne went back to being a playmaker as he set up Riyad Mahrez for his first goal and third goal for City, with a corner cross as Mahrez wasted no time and played the ball into the goal post. United players looked stunned and confused, it was not just their night.
Manchester City was not done yet as they made it four. Gundogan played a through ball into the box as Mahrez tapped it into the goal post. It was over as the final whistle was blown, City claimed all three points and is still in high spirits for the race of the EPL title. United needs to get it together, Arsenal is now fourth on the table and still has three outstanding matches to be played. West Ham, Spurs and Wolves are still fighting for that spot too, it's going to be hard for United to finish at the top four of the table.
So guys that will be all for now, also the Uefa Champions League will continue this week hope you don't miss out.
