Ante todo feliz año a toda la comunidad y a los que me leen, que este 2024 sea uno próspero y de cosas buenas para todos. Como algunos bien saben el Round Robin de nuestro béisbol da inicio el día de hoy después de una temporada en la que igual a la anterior fue dominada ampliamente por dos equipos: Los Leones del Caracas y los Cardenales de Lara, detrás de ellos vivieron los demás para pelearse por los demás puestos clasificatorios. La liga siempre estuvo dividida en dos, una que era la pelea entre estos dos equipos por ver quien era el lider jornada tras jornada y la segunda fue de la supervivencia y lo digo porque así porque en muchas ocasiones incluso el último puesto tenía oportunidad de avanzar a esta postemporada.
First of all, happy new year to all the community and to those who read me, may this 2024 be a prosperous one with good things for everyone. As some of you well know, the Round Robin of our baseball starts today after a season in which, just like the previous one, it was widely dominated by two teams: The Leones del Caracas and the Cardenales de Lara, behind them lived the others to fight for the other qualifying spots. The league was always divided in two, one was the fight between these two teams to see who was the leader day after day and the second was survival and I say this because on many occasions even the last place had a chance to advance to the postseason.
Yo no me escondo y lo puedo decir tranquilamente y con orgullo, mi equipo es el Caracas, actual campeón reinante de la liga, un equipo que a pesar de tener buenos números en la ronda regular no fue tan dominante como el año pasado, el problema radica principalmente en su picheo abridor y que la importación este año fue bastante mala y poco rendidora, muchos de esos jugadores no funcionaron como se esperaba y de ahí algunas deficiencias que vimos. Y es que fue tan así que a Isaías Tejeda, el MVP de la final del año pasado, se le tuvo que decir adiós por su bajo rendimiento al bate; esta liga tiene eso, no te perdona si entras en un slump.

Así terminó la tabla. Al final el quinto clasificado fueron los Tigres de Aragua al imponerse en la serie del comodín a las Águilas del Zulia. La sensación que me dejó la temporada regular y por la cual no puedo dar un favorito para llevarse el campeonato es que en líneas generales y a pesar de lo que dije de las dos ligas todo estuvo muy parejo. Los Bravos de Margarita después de cuatro años, creo, hicieron una temporada espectacular, personalmente estoy muy contento por ese proyecto porque en muchas oportunidades se decía que ese era un equipo muerto y sin vida y la verdad es que no, buen picheo acompañado con una ofensiva muy poderosa y oportuna hicieron que culminaran de terceros. Ojala le den continuidad a lo que está pasando por el bien de la liga y del espectáculo.

Los Tiburones de la Guaira también avanzaron, ellos siendo un poco más inestables, pero que de igual manera con un lineup que mete mucho miedo, se escucharon rumores de que Ronald Acuña no jugaría pero la verdad es que no lo sé, habrá que esperar a ver que tan cierto es. Lo cierto es que este Round Robin es al algo muy diferente, la vibras cambian, los que vienen bien pueden seguir esa senda o inesperadamente caerse o los Tigres De Aragua, quienes hasta hace un par de semanas estaba últimos, pueden llevarse el campeonato, así de cambiante y cerrado es esto. Y para ayudar a los cinco equipos a que el nivel se mantenga el día 31 se dio un Draft de sustituciones en donde cada equipo escogieron a par de jugadores para que se vistan y apoyen con la causa.

Para muchos la joya de la corona es Silvino Bracho, el cerrador del Zulia, y puede que tengan razón, con el Caracas la temporada pasada fue una auténtica locura pero este año Anthony Vizcaya tuvo mejores números que él, el magallanero salvó 9 partidos mientras que Bracho hizo lo propio con 7 encuentros. En lo personal me hubiese gustado tener a Silvino pero no me molesta Vizcaya, creo que el Caracas tiene dos buenos cerradores ahora. Los Bravos se fueron con Ali Castillo, otro que brilló con los Leones al año pasado en el Round Robin, los de Margarita escogieron a un primer bate top y con mucho contacto, honestamente la ofensiva de ese equipo es muy respetable, mucho cuidado con ellos.
For many the jewel in the crown is Silvino Bracho, the Zulia's closer, and they may be right, with Caracas last season was really crazy but this year Anthony Vizcaya had better numbers than him, the magallanero saved 9 games while Bracho did the same with 7 games. Personally I would have liked to have Silvino but I don't mind Vizcaya, I think Caracas has two good closers now. The Bravos went with Ali Castillo, another one who shined with the Leones last year in the Round Robin, Margarita's team chose a top first bat and with a lot of contact, honestly the offense of that team is very respectable, be careful with them.
La Guaira se quedó con catcher del Magallanes Luis Torrens y Aragua con José Pirela. El movimiento de los Tiburones no lo entendí mucho pero nada, ellos sabrán. Aragua si escogió bien con Pirela, al igual que Castillo son jugadores que en Enero se crecen. Ya en la segunda ronda Lara se fue con Ángel Reyes, un tipo que batea con los ojos cerrados y un pitillo mientras que Balbino Fuenmayor aterriza en el Caracas, el cuarto bate que el equipo necesitaba. Se puede pensar que esa escogencia fue mala teniendo al líder bate y al de Home Run pero la verdad es que los Leones no tienen cuarto bate natural, para mi era necesario un jugador de esas características.
La Guaira got Magallanes catcher Luis Torrens and Aragua got Jose Pirela. I didn't understand the Tiburones' move, but they will know. Aragua made the right choice with Pirela, as well as Castillo, they are players that grow in January. Para mi y ya lo dije, no hay favoritos claros pero si me lo preguntan con mucha insistencia les diría que los Cardenales. Lo que Henry Blanco está haciendo con ese equipo es muy bueno, han sido muy consistentes a lo largo de la temporada de principio a fin por lo que es muy probable que también se lleve el premio al manager del año a pesar de que yo se lo daría a José Moreno, manager de los Bravos, lo de los insulares es muy digno. Los Round Robin son una ruleta, al final no se sabe muy bien como llegarán los equipos, uno espero que de la mejor forma pero será a partir de hoy en la noche cuando veremos que tal va todo.
For me and I already said it, there are no clear favorites but if you ask me very insistently I would say the Cardinals. Los mejores pitcher están en Margarita (efectividad, ganados, ponches y salvados), los mejores relevistas están en los Leones. La mejor ofensiva también está en Caracas (AVG, jonrones y anotadas) pero en impulsadas y anotadas están en los Bravos. My Venezuelan friends are Caracas fans, they say that the best thing about this season is that they eliminated Magallanes 😅although I am not very knowledgeable I believe that the Tiburones have the potential to win the round robin and reach the Caribbean Series, besides they have the desire, they have spent many years without being champions.
On the contrary my friend, as a Caracas fan I will always want my rival to always be classified because that's more of a show for everyone. Yes, I was a little happy for their elimination but in the end it is preferable for them to be there.
As for the Tiburones they are 38 without a win. I hope that count continues to rise 😂

Yo vivo en Colombia actualmente pero vine de visita y una de las cosas que quisiera hacer antes de irme es volver al universitario a ver al Caracas FC y también ir por primera vez a un partido de béisbol, nunca tuve la oportunidad y tampoco la inquietud pero ahora quisiera disfrutarlo.

La experiencia de ir, en este caso al monumental es muy buena. Ese estadio es casi igual a uno de grandes ligas y de verdad se disfruta mucho ver un juego. Espero puedas ir porque realmente vale la pena!

Así es. Los equipos están muy parejos aunque no se note, cualquiera pudiera dar el batacazo y ser campeones, creo que los cinco equipos tienen mucho chance!
Los equipos sólidos de la temporadas regular fueron Cardenales y Leones respectivamente, creo que son los favoritos para el título, pero en este todos contra todos, cualquier cosa puede pasar.
Tiburones fue inconsistente, pero hay que tenerle miedo en este round Robin, lo veo peleando sin lugar a dudas. Lo mismo me corre con los tigres. Creo que estos que he mencionado son los candidatos más sólidos. Pero veremos.

Yo al que vería con más cuidado es a Bravos, ese equipo ha sido de los más solidos en toda la temporada tanto en bateo como picheo, creo que serán uno de los equipos que decidan este Round Robin, pero como dices, veremos!
