(ESP-ENG) El mundial de los "blues". [Opinión]
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
The MetLife in New Jersey was dyed blue to crown Enzo Maresca's Chelsea as the first champion of this Club World Cup. If there is something interesting about soccer, it is how unpredictable it can be, since no one expected the match we saw yesterday, where we saw a PSG totally lost and unknown on the field against a Chelsea that knew how to stand up, how to nullify and how to exploit both the opponent's "weak points" and its own virtues. And this must be said, this victory was the product of a work where Maresca and his team knew how to decipher the code and turn the tables.
Some time ago, Luis Enrique himself declared it, he said that as the games went by, the rival teams would understand the way PSG played and would be able to contain their way of playing. This happened in this World Cup with Bayern and in yesterday's final with Chelsea. The difference with the first match is that the Parisians knew how to react and in 4 minutes they were able to win the game, but this was not the case with the “blues”. When the game started, I was very surprised by Chelsea's approach and from the first minute they were dedicated to stifle a PSG that during the first 45 minutes were sterile, suddenly and out of nowhere they became an amateur team which could not keep control of the ball (being their greatest strength) and with problems in marking.
But make no mistake, this was all due to Chelsea's sporting merit. This game has to remain as proof that when you study your opponent and create a tactical system to counteract the results can be surprising. Everyone expected Luis Enrique's team, the current best team in the world, to be the champions. Which brings me to a question, now that Chelsea won the World Cup, are they the best in the world? - Not for me, but there will be those who think otherwise. The English went from less to more in this World Cup, that defeat against Flamengo set off many alarms and questioned Maresca a lot but I think that after facing Benfica and getting through that difficult match the mentality of this club changed for the better.
If we look up and see what is coming, I ask another question, is this Chelsea team ready to fight for the Premier League? - For many years it has been said that this team is in transition trying to find its identity and the definitive squad, in recent years they have made a significant investment in signings (Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto, Pedro Neto, Caicedo, Delap and the most recent of all, Joao Pedro) of which much is expected and of which we have already seen what they can be capable of, so yes, I believe that the "blues" can fight the championship quietly to Liverpool, Arsenal and City. At the end of the day, this World Cup was not as bad as many said and I include myself.
If we make a general balance of this competition, we can say that although it is true that it was an important physical load for the players and that the high temperatures may have been a little risky in some cases, the truth is that there were no injuries due to muscle overload or linked to physical fatigue, taking into account that there are players who played more than 65 games this season. There were great matches of good level and it was demonstrated that the “gap”, if there is such a thing, between South America and Europe is not as big as it was thought. In the end, the unthinkable won and not the one that was in all the pools, and that is the magic of this sport.
Well friends, that's all for today, I hope you liked it.

Saludos, estimado.

¡Felicitaciones!
