💋 KISS-IM-MEE 5K - My Actifit Report Card: February 12 2022

(Edited)

Another running event completed for my fiancé Tiffany and me.

The event promotes heart health and part of the proceeds benefits the American Heart Association.

It’s been going on for 14 years, but only Tiffany and my first time running this event.

It’s a lakeshore run in downtown Kissimmee, which in hindsight; something we should have done years ago.

We have done running events in so many other parts of Central Florida and a further out in Florida, but this one being local should have had our support long ago

Sometimes, we just take things for granted.

Here are two spectacular photos I took, when we arrived at the run site:

The run itself had us run through through the park extended out a bit, but keeping us close to the site. It’s a much tighter run patterns, because it’s a smaller and older town.

Although, it’s near us; where we live is so much larger and spread out much wider.

I managed to keep under my 30 minute consistency:

One of the highlights after the run is this spot in the park area that Tiffany and I went to see, before we headed home.

It’s called: Monument of States

It’s on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places

and as it is explained at the website:

FLORIDAMEMORY.com
State Library and Archives of Florida

“GENERAL NOTE
The Monument of States, located in Kissimmee, Florida, was begun in 1942 by local tourism booster Dr. Charles Bressler-Pettis to demonstrate American unity after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. After writing letters to every governor and the U.S. president for rocks and fossil, he had a 50-foot tower constructed representing all 48-states, which was dedicated in 1943. Later rocks from Hawaii and Alaska, as well as 21 countries, were added to the surrounding walkway. In 2001, following the 9-11 attacks, the tower was refurbished.

Postmarked in 1954”

Here are photos, I took while at Monument of States:

That was a fun day, event, run and visit.

Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday, but Tiffa and I are scheduled to burn some Sunday Funday splats at the home studio OTF Nona for Coach Brooke:

I took all the photos with my iPhone10 XR as always.

I did... although I did have a lot of cleaning up on Sunday, which should've been my "resting day". I even had to leave the house for groceries, which is something I don't like 😅.

But overall, enjoyed my weekend.

Have a productive new week! 💪

@jongolson - it definitely helps to have an accountability partner. I’m sure, once she gets that first hike in; that she will want to do more.

It looks like you had fun and that is a great way to get your steps for the day. I tend to just walk around outside or in the house for my own steps.

How far was the run?

@markhodge 5k’s are 3.1 miles- we have a 10k coming up in early March, which is 6.2 miles. I’ve completed one half marathon 13.1 miles - a couple 10k’s and a bunch of 5k’s.

Post COVID and hamstring issues, a 5K feels like a half lmao, but finishing under 30 minutes has been the goal always.

That's awesome. I envy you. I had this crazy thought while shuffling(and I do mean shuffle - do a search for Cliff Young Melbourne to Sydney and you'll see my running style) around Saturday evening that I might build up to a marathon. It was something that I always wanted to do when I was a kid. Let's ust say, I have a long way to go.

Start off slow, stay consistent and it will all come together. You can only do your best. @markhodge you are a goal crusher, so I know you will get it done.
