Tras la finalización del Clásico Mundial de Béisbol en la noche ayer martes, en donde el combinado japonés se alzó con el título de la edición del 2023, la cual fue la quinta, la representación del sol naciente lleva 3 títulos de los 5 Clásicos realizados hasta ahora, confirmando así su potencial en esta disciplina, estaremos exactamente una semana sin béisbol de alto nivel, ya que el inicio de la temporada del 2023 en las grandes ligas será el treinta del presente mes, pero mientras eso ocurre le daremos un vistazo a la división del centro de la liga Nacional.

El centro de la Nacional está compuesto por 5 equipos, como lo hemos visto en las anteriores divisiones que hemos analizado, Cardenales de San Luis, Cachorros de Chicago, Piratas de Pittsburgh, Cerveceros de Milwaukee y Rojos de Cincinnati, estos son los equipos que en la venidera campaña estarán luchando por alcanzar el título divisional, para este año las cosas no parecen que cambiaran, pero para estar más seguros, observaremos los rosters de los equipos involucrados, para así saber si se fortalecieron o, por el contrario, bajaron su nivel. La visita a esos roster será de menor a mayor, tomando como guía la tabla de posiciones de la zafra pasada.

Los Piratas de la ciudad de Pittsburgh, serán los primeros en ser visitados, vienen de una temporada muy mala, con un registro de 62 ganados y 100 derrotas, que los dejaron en el fondo de esa división y como uno de los peores equipos de las grandes ligas, ojeando su roster no veo mayores cambios y todo indica que podrían repetir su actuación de la temporada del 2022, los nombres que más sobresalen en su picheo son: Vince Velázquez, Robert Stephenson, Colin Holderman, Jarlín García y Rich Hill quien es el más veterano de la rotación de los bucaneros, mientras que a la ofensiva los que más llaman la atención serían: Ji-Man Choi, Oneil Cruz, Carlos Santana, Bryan Reynolds y Andrew McCutchen quien regresa después de varios años a su conjunto en donde dio sus primeros pasos y fue figura.

Más allá de estos peloteros que he mencionado, no parece existir mayor profundidad en este equipo, tienen carencia en el área del picheo y en la ofensiva no hay mayores sorpresas, solo las inclusiones de los veteranos Carlos Santana que llego desde los Marineros de Seattle allí dio 16 jonrones y Andrew McCutchen que llego luego de una temporada aceptable con los Cerveceros, con 70 empujadas y 17 jonrones, para nadie es un secreto que ambos peloteros ya vienen en descenso en sus carreras, seguramente los Piratas estén cerca nuevamente de las 100 derrotas.

Los Rojos de Cincinnati son nuestro segundo en equipo en ser visitado, con récord idéntico al de los Piratas, con 62 triunfos por 100 perdidos, compartió el sótano del centro con los bucaneros, los Rojos que fueron una maquinaria ganadora en la década de los 70, de la mano de grandes jugadores, en la actualidad están en plena reconstrucción, en la temporada pasada hicieron una serie de cambios para poder conseguir peloteros que los pueden ayudar a obtener victorias en un futuro no muy lejano, salieron de su abridor estelar Luis Castillo, pero pensando en el futuro, para esta campaña tendrán una rotación que posiblemente los haga tener un mejor récord, contaran en esas funciones con Luis Cessa, Buck Farmer, Brandon Williamson, Fernando Cruz y Graham Ashcraft, en el relevo no veo nombres destacado, pero ojo, eso no quiere decir, que no hagan el trabajo.

Ofensivamente, el conjunto tendran: Joey Votto, él es la imagen del equipo, Wil Myers quien viene de tener excelentes campañas con los Padres, Jake Fraley, Will Benson, Kevin Newman y el excelente bateador Jonathan India, a mi parecer este equipo va a mejorar con respecto a la campaña del año pasado, los veo luchando por el cuarto lugar, aún no tiene para buscar un comodín y menos para optar por el banderín de la central del viejo circuito.

Los Cachorros de Chicago, luego de quedar campeones, no han podido ser ese equipo competitivo, y en las últimas 4 campañas han venido desmantelándose, el último en salir ha sido Wilson Contreras, quien fue el receptor que guio a los lanzadores en esa Serie Mundial en donde se titularon como campeones, este año tampoco parece que irán más allá de un tercer lugar, tendrán un picheo decente, que estará encabezado por Michael Fulmer, Marcus Stroman, Jameson Taillon, Adbert Alzolay y Brad Boxberger, a simple vista una rotación muy superior a la de los dos equipos antes mencionados, eso da base para decir que los de Chicago no deberían bajar del tercer lugar de la central.

El bateo de los Cachorros, luce un poco más débil con respecto al año pasado, contaran con las incorporaciones de peloteros probados en las grandes ligas, tales como: Trey Mancini, Cody Bellinger que podría tener un renacer en su carrera, Dansby Swanson, quien viene de las filas de los Bravos y Eric Hosmer, un excelente inicialista, pero aún les falta más profundidad si es que quieren competir contra los Cerveceros y los Cardenales, quizás con dos bateadores de altos porcentaje, pueden meterse en la lucha del banderín

Les toca el turno a los Cerveceros de Milwaukee, un equipo que se quedó corto la temporada pasada con 86 ganados y 76 perdidos, lucho a lo largo de la temporada, pero no aguantaron el envión de los Phillies de Philadelphia, que al final se quedaron con el último cupo de comodín, este año los lúpulosos buscaran terminar el trabajo que no pudieron el año pasado, para eso contaran con los brazos de, Eric Lauer, Freddy Peralta, Brandon Woodruff, Corbin Burnes y Wade Miley, mientras que para las labores de cierre tendrán a Devin Williams, que viene de una excelente actuación en el Clásico Mundial de Béisbol, se ven bastante bien en lo que a picheo corresponde.

La ofensiva de los Cerveceros está reforzada, solo al ver a receptores como Víctor Caratini y William Contreras, que además de buenos defensores, son bateadores comprobados, pero no solo están ellos liderando el bateo, también están Willy Adames, Mike Brosseau, Keston Hiura, Rowdy Tellez, Luis Urías, Jesse Winker y el experimentado Christian Yelich, desde donde se vea, este equipo está fuerte, ofensiva y picheo lucen blindados, tienen lo necesario para estar presente en los play-offs, bien sea como comodín o hasta de campeón divisional.

Por último visitaremos a los actuales campeones divisionales, los Cardenales de San Luis, que tuvieron en la temporada del 2022 registro de 93 y 69, lo que le basto para lograr el cetro del centro de la liga Nacional, esa clasificación se la dedicaron a dos peloteros que se retiraron con ese uniforme, Albert Pujols y Yadier Molina, los pájaros rojos siempre salen como los grandes favoritos de dicha división y este año no parece ser la excepción, tiene una rotación estable, con nombres como los de Steven Matz, Miles Mikolas, Jordan Montgomery, Adam Wainwright un veterano de mil batallas que anuncio que esta será su campaña de despedida, un posible quinto abridor puede ser Ryan Helsley, el relevo es prácticamente el mismo de la zafra pasada.

Los bates de Wilson Contreras, Nolan Arenado, Paul DeJong, Paul Goldschmidt, Juan Yepez, Alec Burleson y el de Tyler O’Neill, harán de este line up, una maquinaria de hacer carreras, son bateadores totalmente experimentados y hasta ganadores de bates de plata, sin duda alguna estarán luchando por un pase a la post-temporada, como conclusión puedo decir que seguramente Rojos y Piratas estén en el fondo de la tabla, Cachorros de terceros, y buscando play-offs San Luis y Cerveceros, a mi parecer veo muy parejos a estos dos equipos, pero algo me dice que los lupulosos pueden estar titulándose en el centro y San Luis con uno de los tres comodines, pero bueno amanecerá y veremos que ocurre al finalizar la ronda regular del mejor béisbol del mundo.
