Greetings, people! 🙌🇳🇬

In the spirit of Nigeria @63, let me write...

"Kingsley, you're too engrossed with Nigerian matches, haaaaa! It's just too much!"

I can't count how many times I've received such words that sound like backlash due to my undying love for Nigerian football matches.
For those of you that know me to my WhatsApp, you must have seen how noisy I become whenever it's a tournament that involves Nigeria at all levels, be it men, women, or the junior teams. I turn my WhatsApp status into a mini-LiveScore platform where I update on every action and goal in those matches.

I don't actually know how I became this patriotic to Nigerian matches because, by a normal standard, it's hard to see a 'reasonable' youth in this era to like Nigerian matches, coupled with the many heartbreaks we usually experience in such matches. Maybe it's because my dad and his neighbours in my early stages of life were into this. Although I was very little way back in the late 90's, I remember how my dad used to bring out his black and white TV, set it outside on a table, connect a loudspeaker to the TV, and arrange benches for the street people to come and watch Nigerian matches.
Maybe it's because of my dad, because he doesn't miss all these early morning Nigeria matches... "I don't just know because, even on those days, I don't really watch with him.

Yeah, I don't just know why I'm this patriotic; maybe because my blood is green in colour🇳🇬. I don't just know.

As it is now, I can't trade Nigerian match for anything. I've cancelled a lot of appointments and assignments just to watch the Nigerian match.
As it is now, whenever a Nigerian match falls on a Sunday morning, God will understand...🙈
I remember a particular day I was to handle a midweek service in church, and there was a Nigerian match by 4:30 p.m. while the service was at 5:00 p.m. Omo! I almost missed the service, If not for the respect I have for TRUST and RESPONSIBILITY [My pastor trusted the service to my hands. I couldn't just cancel the service of the match]

Enough of all these patriotic talks.

In the spirit of being a die-hard fan of Nigerian football, I'll be joining the #threetunestuesday with songs dedicated to the Nigerian football team, known as the Super Eagles. A lover of Nigerian football will surely know these songs—a mix of old and new songs dedicated to my beloved national football.

Super Eagles Carry Go by Austino Milado

If you're looking for an ancient song that's evergreen, then this is it. This song is older than me; I came to this earth to meet it, and till today, it's still trending.
Till today, whenever Nigeria is playing a match, the dominant sound you'll hear from the crowd is a drumbeat and trumpet gyrating to this song. There's a forum called THE SUPER EAGLES SUPPORTERS, these people travel everywhere with their drums and trumpets to ginger the super eagles in any match with this song, and their noise always swallows everyone else's noise from the other country.

This song, when played in the background, stirs up the sportsmanship in every Nigerian spirit, and before you know it, we'll start dancing.
The song mentioned the footballers who caused 'troubles' with trophies in the early stages of Nigerian football.

Iss a Goal (Rmx) by Naira Marley, Simi, Lil Kesh, Falz, and Olamide

Who remembers the Russia 2018 World Cup?
If you didn't know about this World Cup, you really missed a lot.
This song was dedicated to the Super Eagles during the Russia 2018 World Cup, and it was sponsored by Coca-Cola.
Today, I still treasure this song. It's a typical afrobeat song with many talented artists, and they killed their lines with the utmost creativity of Rhythm.

During this world, there's was something special about Nigeria, and that was the jersey. Falz mentioned it in his lyrics: 🎶"Naija jersey is a goal"🎶. Yes, the jersey was rated the best of all in the tournament, and we saw a lot of foreigners kitting up to support Nigeria.

It's so bad that we didn't progress past the group stage because of our always-combating opponent in the World Cup tournament, Argentina.

It'll interest you to know also that Ahmed Musa recorded his name in the world when he scored four goals—four goals that turned the day to Christmas in the whole of Nigeria.
Mehn! Good old days!

Top of the World by Dbanj

If my GOAT had finished his career and didn't sing for the super eagles, it would have hurt me well.

Top of the world was dedicated to us, the African Champions of 2013.

On that day of the final between Nigeria and Burkina Faso, Dbanj was there to perform this song, and I could not hold myself that day, watching my GOAT perform in the football stadium for Nigerians, Africans, and the world at large.
The lyrics of this song is well studded. There are so many good motivational lines to pick from.

It's a very calm song; you don't need to rush dancing to it; just get in the mood and wave your hand in support of the super eagles.

Bonus;

Waving flag (Naija version) by Banky We & MI

It won't be fair I don't mention the song dedicated to the super Eagles during South Africa 2010 World Cup. (@humbe, do you know of this tournament?)
In case you don't know, South Africa 2010 has the best World Cup song ever in the history of the World Cup, all thanks to Shakira and Knaan.
After Knaan did the hit song Waving Flag, Banky W, a very patriotic Nigerian, took it to another level, related to Mr Incredible (MI), and came out with a Naija version of Waving Flag. The song was centred on the super eagles. "Naija no dey carry last, the worst na draw"(you can't win Nigeria in a match, if it becomes worst, then it's gonna be a draw match)"

Thank you for reading.

Bro, you are indeed a patriot I must say and thank you for promoting Nigeria music on TTT.

Growing up, I used to love Nigeria football a lot. There was a match against Uruguay a long time ago I left the viewing centre at midnight. We lost and it hurts but we ain't giving up.

Nigeria is our country and we don't have a choice than to always promote ourselves. I love these songs, thanks for bringing back old memories bro.
