Mom Shined When She Suffers the Most

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Mom is a real trooper in this challenging season! 💪🏼

I believe that is because that’s her 2nd primary love language – quality time, also because of her past profession that enables her to survive better with people around and she can chat with.

Due to the fact that I have to rush between work, letting her hospitalised was the best decision.

With the professional care from the general hospital and because of her unique cornea dystrophy condition, which is super rare in many cases in Malaysia, mom became the topic of conversation in the opthalmology department .

Learning students, houseman, and even the senior professionals wanted a piece of the knowledge how on earth this happened to her; whether her medical history has something to do with it.

Being a past kindergarte teacher, mom loves to converse, and this became her great past time when she is not sleeping due to the antibiotics effect.

And also because she accepted her fate with a light heart because of her faith, she was able to even make friends with the next generation ophthalmologists and doctirs. Especially the girls. They love her calling them “amoi , amoi”

Twice a day they will make their rounds and spend aadditional time at her bed and my mom will share her entire medical history, including how God gave her an additional 17 years of her life to see the grandkids grow up to teens.

What a role model for those who are going through pain and ordeal. I am so glad that God has slowly but surely healed her broken heart from her broken family past, and her mind slowly gears towards true freedom in Christ – freedom from despair, oppression, and insecurity.

“And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,”
Says the Lord Almightty
2 Cor 6:18

This is her favourite scripture. Being a “Fatherless” child growing up (father absentee) in post WW2 is not easy. The oppression from a heartbroken mother, ill mannered survival mode sisters can be very real.

But God

Yes, HE is the Father to the fatherless. But it took mom 60 years to truly realise that.

Nevertheless, nothing is too late. God always has better plans for those who are HIS children. And this round HE shined through my mom, enabling he like a role model patient , favour showered upon her, even until the very end where HE even settled 99% of her medical bills for this admission.
