The Good, Frustration, Roadblock Horrors of NordVPN (Tried N Tested Review)

Dang!
This has been happening ever since I started testing out how effective NordVPN is almost a week ago, and boy, this has been a journey!

clicking the image can get you to nordvpn.com to know more.
For those who has read my previous post before would have noticed this photo before.
In fact, I actually personally have installed and have been enduring through trying to understand this supposedly super-fast super effective VPN... but the company “conveniently” opt out super-paranoid application, well, in a good way... kind of... I guess.
Installation
The installation is actually relatively easy and very straight forward, other than making sure you have a brand new email that deals with the account and password (in case you need to share your account credentials with your family members)... talking about being paranoid, yeah.
The confusion only starts when you have logged in to your software and it starts running

The connection is actually relatively easy, you just either pick the circular arrow refresh button and let the program picks for you, or you pick up a country available in the list that you like. You previous country(ies) of choice will be shown right below the power button / refresh button for your convenience, and I must say that it is pretty cool to see the available servers that is displayed on the map.
Once that is on, the nightmare starts
Often times you will keep encountering “Your connection isn’t private” blockade warning page when you visit your favourite site (including the all the sites connected to HIVE / any blockchain), and that is because the system by default treat non-mainstream sites as unsafe sites. That means, you will need to teach it to understand what is your regular sites that you trust.

So the moment you heat the “blockade wall” you will need to automatically go to the shield settings icon below (don’t mix up with web shield icon at the top), and look for turn on web protection section, choose the > arrow button and start scrolling down to the bottom of the page and see if it has placed the URL for you to opt out from default blocking.

Once you have found your wanted website page address (URL link) you can pick the 3 dots button and choose Exclude this domain from threat blocking , and don’t expect that it will update and unblock immediately.
There were several times I actually need to switch off web protection entirely manually when I am rushing and turn it back on after I am done.

Another way is that you can temporarily block the site with these 2 options, ONLY if the images and the site are of the same domain.
Imagine if you are at Ecency.com but you are reading your friend’s post who posted in hive.blog; you will not be able to see his / her images because the domain that you temporarily unblocked was ecency.com, not hive.blog
So you will probably need to search for its detection (maybe an hour / few hours later) in the list and add it into the exception.
Most unfortunately, right now I am not able to find a quick add of exception in the list.
Unless some of you who has used this software before and able to “crack the code of confusion” before, if you have done it please share your wisdom in my comments!
Was this worth the investment?
Actually after a few days of frustration, those sites that I have added into the exclusion list runs a lot faster, provided you know which country their strong servers are in. One thing I have found out, NEVER choose New Zealand, I have been crying with that choice because just so happened my Rumble.com was assigned to that country when I first signed up using my old VPN, Avast.
Should you be trying this out?
With the ability to protect up to 6 devices and I can share it with my brother who travels a lot to places he gets blocked out without a VPN, it should still be okay because it is more than one person using. I haven’t tried installing 2 computer machines with the same VPN software, but I do have a small laptop that I want to use later for side-learning and see if that works.
I still have around 22 days left to decide if this inconvenience is going to drive me crazy and give up altogether, so I will continue to give it a try. But if you think you’d like to try it out yourself you can click right here to help me out to accumulate my bill target for handling all the additional expenses for my family until I can get a good stable additional part-time.

So far I have one month target covered, and approximately 8 HBD saved up outside Hive Dollar Savings where I can quickly sell when it reaches $40 USD. Gogetfunding is still zilch because some didn’t want to go through these sites in fear of the money will never reach the recipient; so right now I have no idea whether it works or not.
Please feel free to help me test out this site if you want to.
Even a dollar would work. It doesn’t have to be the amount there.
Those are just when you donated that amount in MYR you will get a physical gift in return.
Well, this has been a very interesting journey learning something new, and I do hope that it will eventually learn faster.
One thing for sure is that I realised that if I use ecency app it works fine; but going through web browser is a nightmare at the moment.
Until Then
Stay healthy and happy, and always be opened to learn something new 😁

Yes it is. I can't say it is utterly troublesome, but it is quite tedious indeed to keep setting things up
