As fate would have it, Christmas falls on a Wednesday this year, and I only work half days on those days, so after six years in a row of my children being home alone all day while I worked from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., this year I spent the afternoon with them.

I decided to cook a dinner in the style of my country, something more elaborate than hamburgers or hot dogs, which was what we usually ate because I would come home exhausted and just want to take a shower and go to sleep.

And although I didn't have money to buy gifts this year, I think that being with them and resting after exhausting days has not only been a great gift for the three of us, but also a sign of the changes I have been asking for for a long time.

Maratón navideño

Por cosas del destino, las fechas puntuales de navidad caen miércoles este año y esos días solo trabajo medio día, así que luego de 6 años seguidos en los cuales mis hijos estaban todo el día solos en casa mientras yo trabajaba de 9 am a 9 pm, este año la tarde fue para ellos.

Me dediqué a cocinar una cena al estilo de mi país, algo más elaborado que unas hamburguesas o perros calientes, que era lo que comíamos usualmente porque llegaba a casa agotada y con ganas de bañarme y dormir.

Y aunque este año no tuve para comprar regalos, creo que estar con ellos y descansar luego de jornadas extenuantes, no solo ha sido un gran regalo para los tres, sino una señal de los cambios que he estado pidiendo desde hace mucho.
