Just go with the flow - Evening Run

I just finished a 11.945km running that lasted about 0hh:56mm:19ss !

With the sudden drop in temperature, it was much better today when I started my run, barely at 50F (or around 11 degrees Celsius). That means much less hesitation, and much more motivation. I wish the temperature stayed like that all summer! Anyways, I went again for my run without any expectation for pace or distance. In fact, I checked my watch for the first time after more than 5 miles, so I really just ran based on my body's sensations. It turns up it was one of my best runs this month, and maybe the longest. And I still had enough energy after to go for a 3+ miles walk with the dogs. I think sometimes it's good to just go with the flow, and forget about any rigorous training.

For once, I started a bit earlier in the afternoon and got plenty of daylight left even after my run. However, unlike the bright sun and blue sky on the cover photo (taken around mid-day during another dog walk), it was much darker and gloomier (as seen on pic below taken right after my run). Another advantage of the cooler temperature: no bugs! That's why I could start in the forest for about 2 miles before going back to the asphalt. Like I already said, the softer trail ground, and slightly reduced pace (to avoid roots and other obstacles) make for a nice warm up, and help me avoid one of my usual mistakes of starting way too fast (although the first mile was once again the fastest).

I thought I was too far behind to reach in May the same mileage I ran in April, but this run brings my total to 101km. With 4 days left, it should be doable to finish May around the same total. It will depend on the weather this long week end (Monday is holiday here).

Till then, keep Exhausting!
