First night run since last winter

I just finished a 10.134km running that lasted about 0hh:46mm:8ss !

It was bound to happen, cutting it closer and closer, some day it was clear I would have to run at night. I was supposed to run yesterday, after resting on Monday, but I skipped for various reasons. So, today, even though my afternoon passed by me way too quick, a run was a must. And instead of rushing everything to try and start before nightfall and ending up running mostly in the dark anyways, I decided to just go full night mode with my visibility jacket and headlamp. Strava doesn't call it a night run, because I started just before 9pm, but it was for sure completely dark already. It was a little strange for me, because I think last time I ran at night was last winter, with snow and sub-freezing temperatures, not the mild 18 degrees Celsius we had today. And with the humidity above 90%, it was a great sweating session! A bit strange for October in Michigan. I also didn't run with my earbuds to stay aware of the surroundings, that was the first time in a very long time that I ran without music.

For my first night run, I stayed on well-known streets in the area, but I tried and changed the order a bit. With my night gear, I am visible from probably half a mile, but I guess some people are just dumb, or very bad drivers, or both... One car almost ran me over, and swerved at the very last second, and they still had the audacity to honk at me, as if it was my fault!

As usual, I saw quite a few deer, and in the darkness I was kind of worried they would feel threatened by me. Some of them had these big-ass antlers, and that would be painful for sure. Luckily, they just calmly looked at me passing in front of them.

The run itself was pretty decent, 10km at 7:20 min/mile. I did feel a bit tired with sore legs, in spite of the extra rest day. And my heart rate stayed very high the whole time, even more than usual. I guess that's okay, as long as I don't feel really short of breath.

Not sure when the next run will be, this week schedule has been all over the place, so we'll see. Till then, keep Exhausting!
