Cold, snowy, windy... Perfect for a Night Run

I just finished a 6.634km running that lasted about 0hh:34mm:7ss !

I wasn't really sure I wanted to run last night, but it was close to 10pm when I finally decided to go for a short run. The last couple of days we had a snow storm, it wasn't as impressive as the forecast let us think, but we still got a good 6 or 7 inches of new snow. And with the wind accumulating the snow in some areas, some of the sections I ran, the snow was at least 15 inches deep. And heavy snow! So, no question, of course the shoes with spikes were a must. It was also a bit cold, with the "feels like" temperature at -16 degrees Celsius. So, anyways, fun conditions for a run 😉 In the picture below, this is what it actually looks like with the headlamp.

But exhausting! Even though the pace was much slower than usual, I still felt as if the effort was so much harder! Obviously, even more so in the deep snow sections. So, like I said last time, that must be good for my training. I also had a dog encounter, the first in a while. A dog was loose in a front yard and clearly not happy to see me running by. As too often, people assume there won't be anybody outside at that time and with that weather, and they let their dogs out in their unfenced front yard, while they stay in their heated house. It was a small dog, but they still can bite! So, just to be safe, I just turned around (luckily it didn't follow me too far) and found a new route. It was actually pretty good, similar streets in the neighborhood of course, but in a different order and/or direction than what I usually do.

Not sure about the next run. Just like yesterday, it will be spur-of-the-moment decision, whenever I feel like it. The snow is here to stay at least a few days, so there will be more fun!
Till then, keep Exhausting!
