The big refreeze - Evening Run

I just finished a 12.945km running that lasted about 1hh:0mm:44ss !

On Saturday, I felt tired for a run, but at least my stomach was okay, and that makes running much easier! That's why after a few miles, I still felt well, and I started adding some distance. I didn't have a choice to include a few overlaps in my route, but not so much, for a final distance around 8 miles. The pace around 7:33 min/mile is also better than the past few runs, mostly because the road is dry in many locations now. However, after 3 warmer days, with lots of snow melting, and now back down to -9 degrees Celsius, there was also a lot of ice! The cover photo shows one of the pathways along the forest I run almost every time. But this was just too dangerous this time, and I avoided it with some slightly different streets around. My two slowest miles were clearly where I had to literally skate through ice patches. Fun but way too easy to mess up.

However, I really think this temperature is optimal for me. My heart rate was a little lower than usual, around 160bpm average, and it didn't shoot up above 170 right away. Overall, I felt like I could maintain this effort level for a while, and I even had enough juice to add a small sprint at the end.
It had been a while but tonight I saw plenty of deer. At least a dozen just hanging out in front yards, probably looking for some food in the cold. But they didn't come too close. No other wildlife or people on my path. At night and in the cold, I wasn't expecting differently.

My total for February is now 49km. With a shorter month and difficult conditions (ice, snow, ...), I would be happy with 100km at the end of the month. So we're back on track to reach it now. Let's see what the next run will be.
Till then, keep Exhausting!
