A day in the life of a Volunteer. My Actifit Report Card: March 21 2022

Curious to know how it is to be a volunteer in a refugee Center? Here’s my today’s itinerary:

  • at 9am got 24kg of bed linen, blankets etc from laundry
  • bought two 20l bottles of water
  • delivered the cargo to my church where we host the refugees
  • chatted with our UA coordinator to explain the registration for Polish ID number
  • agreed with a charity regular deliveries of milk, oil, pasta and other basic products
  • unloaded a van and trailer with supplies
  • went with two women to a bank, to help with translation
  • delivered 27kg worth of items to laundry
  • drove with a women to a dentist and made sure the dentist understood the problem
  • had a coffee while waiting
  • bought bread and delivered to the church
  • drove with a teenager and his Mom to a doc - again translation needed
  • led a quick meeting to explain getting kids to school and Moms to work
  • at 8pm ate my first hot meal in the day - delicious pielmieni made by our guests
  • at 9:30pm called local railways to inquire about lost backpack with documents of one our guests

In between - made 24k steps. That’s what #AliveAndThriving is all about!
