Crocuses. My Actifit Report Card: March 30 2024
Poland’s mountains are now dotted with crocuses (proper name: Spisz Safran). They pop up on open, sunny meadows and delight the wanderers.
I am doing a 80km trail over the Easter long weekend. Divided into 3 stages, it’s not too hard. We enjoyed quite good weather - temperatures in high teens, no precipitation. We however witnessed a rare phenomenon here - the warmth is caused by southern winds, which have brought… sand all the way from Sahara. It creates a haziness in the air, blurring the views.
Since our first stage was only 22km, I added an additional peak. The additional steps might be handy, since I had a @poliac duel with @browery yesterday. We are both trying to finish the season on the podium.

it was really unsettling - we had good weather with 20C, no rain, not even cloudy, but visibility was well below 20km. Even mountains which were like 15-20km from my viewpoint, were barely visible. With normal visibility, from where I hiked, I should have easily seen mountains 50-80km away (and not just see them as a line on the horizon - during my past hikes I had been able to distinguish and name almost every single peak!)
