Happy New Year: How was your 2023 in sports?

Heeeyho Readers! How was your year??

Another year comes to the end. Twenty-three has been pretty tiring. That's the nature of competitive sports, I guess. There are moments of glory to reward moments of brutal effort. Sometimes it hurts... I only crashed twice this year {laughs}. But, as the saying goes, the sharpest swords only exist after a good forge.

Plans for 2024 involve adventuring more, which once was the driving force of this blog. More camping, bikepacking, trekking. I miss walking, to be honest. Since the whole biking competitions frenzy my legs haven't been used much for what they are designed for. Speaking of that.

How was your year in sports?

The objective of this blog is to tell stories that inspire. It makes my day whenever someone goes out there to enjoy life after reading my non-sense stories. We gotta move our butts to stay alive. We active all those sexy hormones by establishing targets and working towards them, hence sports are so important in our lives.

Today was the last cycling day of 2023 — a quick spin without rush or preoccupation to reach certain effort levels.

Yearly stats

According to Strava, I registered 190 activities, totaling 327h16m of cycling and over 7,104 kilometers. Holy shit! That's 1700 kilometers more than 2022 and 3500 more than 2021 (considering I spent 6 months recovering a broken leg in 21). The Avg Time / Week is about 6hrs42m, which meets my target of 6-8 hours of training/week. On top of that, there are 96 hours of pool swimming (equivalent to 2x week in the water for one hour every-single-week non stop) and nearly 145 hours of functional/mobility training. And then I wonder why my body hurts...

Although far from enough to become and elite cyclist, my efforts put me on the second place in my city's Olympic Cross-country Mountain Biking tournament (30-35 year olds) this year. Yey! Let's hope that 2024 is more intense than 23.

A last message

I'd like to wish you all a great New Year. Never forget to keep on moving and I hope you [readers] can reach your targets in 2024. Don't be afraid to start something new. And hold to your seats, because 2024 is Halving year — be ready for those giganormous crypto boom.

Peace.

Yep definitely, especially when I rode a time trial bike and have not been riding it for a while. I see a chiropractor regularly to make sure my back and neck are working well. I also do a lot of computer work as part of my day job and the only thing that helps is moving my body a couple of times a day. I hope you can get it sorted.

Gotcha! I do stretchin daily, but am postponing a visit to a chiropractor for a while now -- guess it's time to go have my back popped. It's really annoying when the pain irradiates to the head.
