My Actifit Report Card: February 19 2024
Yesterday we met up with my parents in Winchester for lunch at The Wykeham Arms. It was lovely, the food was excellent as ever, yes we’ve been to the same pub many times over the years, decades to be honest. It’s got a great interior and located just behind the Cathedral, St Swithuns church etc.
The photo above is of St Swithun-upon-kingsgate Church, from the outside and I’m sure I might have shared pictures from inside on here previously. It’s quite fantastic and unique at the same time. There is a wonderful shop underneath it, the church is of course built atop a gateway through the old city wall, so you walk under it in order to enter the old city.
The shop is called Kingsgate Books and Prints, they’ve been there for millennia too! Yesterday they had a lovely collection of the old Railway Posters outside, the ones depicting scenes of places around the British Isles.
On our way back into the centre of the city for a post lunch walk via the buildings adjacent to Winchester Cathedral we spotted this book store which is always there. We didn’t linger long there but it’s well worth a browse.
The Cathedral grounds are being reseeded at the moment and that why they’ve covered it with sheets to stop the pesky birds from having their feast!

We were in Winchester fairly recently. It is a pretty place. I'm not sure if we saw that church, but we may go back some time.
