Como es sabido, el nacimiento de mi hija Nancy ocurrió en el año 2002 y fue un parto antes de tiempo. Luego de nacer fue muy enfermiza, específicamente tenía constantes episodios de amigdalitis, hasta el punto que debían ingresar tratamiento intravenoso. Todas estas situaciones acarreaban gastos imprevistos hasta que fue operada en el año 2005, y aunque sabemos que las amígdalas son una de las defensas del organismo, de verdad que no existía otro remedio que la cirugía. Al año siguiente de su operación nace su hermano Miguel, cuyo tiempo de gestación fue muy traumático por la constante pérdida de líquido.

De igual manera, el parto fue anticipado aproximadamente a la 35 semanas. Desde pequeño Miguel sufrió mucho, principalmente por su condición de hiperactividad por lo que aún tiene su tratamiento con carbamazepina. Durante su infancia las enfermedades fueron mayores que las de su hermana Nancy. Incluyendo también las amigdalitis, por lo que también fue operado de las amígdalas y adenoides. No había posibilidad de ahorro alguno. Con esta operación hubo una situación que se puede decir una entre un millón; porque al pasar el tiempo a Miguel se le volvieron a reproducir las adenoides.

As you know, the birth of my daughter Nancy occurred in 2002 and it was an early delivery. After her birth she was very sickly, specifically she had constant episodes of tonsillitis, to the point that she had to be treated intravenously. All these situations entailed unforeseen expenses until she was operated in 2005, and although we know that the tonsils are one of the body's defenses, there was really no other remedy than surgery. The year after her operation, her brother Miguel was born, whose gestation period was very traumatic due to the constant loss of fluid.

Likewise, the delivery was anticipated at approximately 35 weeks. Since he was a child, Miguel suffered a lot, mainly due to his hyperactivity condition, for which he is still being treated with carbamazepine. During his childhood his illnesses were greater than those of his sister Nancy. Including also tonsillitis, for which he also had tonsil and adenoid surgery. There was no possibility of any savings. With this operation there was a situation that can be said to be one in a million; because as time went by Miguel's adenoids reproduced again.

Esta situación causó asombro por parte del doctor y de nosotros. En tal sentido, había que someterlo a una nueva cirugía, pero en esta oportunidad el seguro no lo cubría porque ya había sido operado de la misma patología. Esto fue un duro golpe al bolsillo, pero con esfuerzo se realizó. Ya avanzado el tiempo los muchachos fueron creciendo pero estábamos muy limitados hasta para salir a comer un helado. Sin embargo, en el año 2014 a pesar de las enfermedades y los obstáculos, me propuse realizar un ahorro oculto para despejarnos y alejarnos de todos estos males, aunque sea por un fin de semana.

Así que fui llenando la esperanza de realizar un viaje a la Isla de Margarita estado Nueva Esparta Venezuela. En ese viaje aprovecharíamos de cumplir una promesa en el Santuario de la Virgen del Valle, la cual consistía en llevar a mi hijo Miguel. Tuvieron que pasar 8 años para poder realizar ese viaje, imagínense ustedes como era nuestra situación. Bueno, llegó el momento del viaje, y desde que nos montamos en la lancha desde la ciudad de Cumaná, mis hijos y para ese momento mi esposa, estaban super emocionados.

En esa lancha jugaron demás; recuerdo que estábamos sentados y Nancy y Miguel jugaban con una pelota, esa pelota rebotó demás y calló en el sombrero de una señora, la señora no sintió, pero Miguel se montó en el asiento y como pudo la agarró sin que la señora se diera cuenta. Eso me causó un poco de risa porque todo fue sin intención, y si la señora se hubiese molestado, estaba en todo su derecho. Apartando un poco la historia, las imágenes que verán pueden no estar muy claras, ya que para ese momento no estábamos en la onda de las cámaras de calidad; a duras penas teníamos unos teléfonos sencillos.

So I was filling the hope of making a trip to Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta state, Venezuela. On that trip we would take the opportunity to fulfill a promise in the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Valley, which was to take my son Miguel. It took 8 years to be able to make that trip, imagine what our situation was like. Well, the moment of the trip arrived, and since we got on the boat from the city of Cumaná, my children and my wife were very excited.

In that boat they played a lot; I remember that we were sitting and Nancy and Miguel were playing with a ball, that ball bounced a lot and fell on the hat of a lady, the lady did not feel it, but Miguel got on the seat and as he could he grabbed it without the lady noticing. That caused me to laugh a little because it was all unintentional, and if the lady was upset, she had every right to be. The story aside, the images you will see may not be very clear, since at that time we were not in the era of quality cameras; we barely had a few simple phones.

Al llegar a Margarita nos fuimos directo al hotel que ya había reservado días antes. Recuerdo que el hotel se llamaba María Luisa ubicado en Porlamar. No sé en qué condiciones está en estos momentos, pero cuando estuvimos allí tenía sus comodidades y era muy familiar. Cerca se encontraba la Playa de Bella Vista si más no recuerdo. Lo digo porque la habitación que nos tocó tenía una vista muy hermosa hacia esa playa. También frente al hotel había un restaurante, no recuerdo el nombre, pero si recuerdo que preparaban unas comidas deliciosas, básicamente almorzábamos allí cuando teníamos oportunidad. En cada espacio que nos encontrábamos los muchachos estaban emocionados, a excepción de un lugar donde Miguel se puso un poco bravo.

Luego de ubicarnos en el hotel, de inmediato nos fuimos al Santuario de la Virgen del Valle. Allí recorrimos todos los espacios y cumplimos la promesa. En el Santuario Miguel se puso un poco bravo porque ya quería ir a Diverland, pero para ese momento funcionaba en horas casi nocturnas. Hicimos el recorrido, y para esperar que abrieran Diverland fuimos el Centro Comercial Sambil. Los muchachos estaban ansiosos pero había que ganar tiempo recorriendo el centro comercial. Llegó la hora y nos fuimos en taxi hasta Diverland.

I don't know what condition it is in now, but when we were there it had its amenities and was very familiar. Nearby was the Bella Vista Beach if I remember correctly. Also in front of the hotel there was a restaurant, I do not remember the name, but I do remember that they prepared delicious meals, basically we had lunch there when we had the opportunity. In every place we met the guys were excited, except for one place where Miguel got a little angry.

After getting settled in the hotel, we immediately went to the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Valle. There we went through all the spaces and fulfilled our promise. At the Sanctuary Miguel got a little bit angry because he wanted to go to Diverland, but by that time it was working almost at night. We did the tour, and to wait for Diverland to open we went to the Sambil Mall. The boys were anxious but we had to save time walking around the mall. The time came and we took a cab to Diverland.

Al llegar allí nadie quería tomarse fotos, solo querían montarse en los juegos mecánicos. Imagínense ustedes que querían subir a la montaña rusa, cosa que no fue posible por su edad. Sin embargo disfrutaron en los otros juegos. Confieso que antes yo era amante de montarme en las montañas rusas y los barcos que van de un lado a otro hasta que uno queda casi boca abajo, pero para ese momento ya no me llamaba la atención. Ellos disfrutaron demás en otro juegos mecánicos.

Recuerdo que Miguel quería manejar karting, porque eso sí, Miguel no le tenía miedo a nada y aun es así. Yo dudaba mucho que pudiera manejar el karting. Sin embargo, debía cumplir una medida mínima de 1.20 cm y logró superar esa medida. Cuando se montó, el niño me sorprendió porque manejó muy bien su carrito, a penas pude tomarle la foto en plena carrera. Disfrutamos un mundo y se nos había olvidado todo aquello que nos pudiera causar malestar. Hasta su mamá se montó con mi hija en un juego estilo pulpo.

I remember Miguel wanted to go karting, because yes, Miguel wasn't afraid of anything and he still is. I doubted very much that he could drive a go-kart. However, he had to meet a minimum measurement of 1.20 cm and he managed to exceed that measurement. When he got on, the boy surprised me because he handled his kart very well, I could hardly take a picture of him in the middle of the race. We had a great time and we had forgotten anything that could cause us discomfort. Even his mom rode with my daughter in an octopus style game.

Al día siguiente fuimos a Parque el Agua, debíamos disfrutar al máximo porque solo era un fin de semana. Llegamos al sitio y nos detuvimos a tomarnos unas fotos antes de disfrutar de la diversión acuática, ya que como estábamos solos debíamos guardar todas las cosas en los casilleros. No podíamos dejar las cosas sin vigilancia porque una de las atracciones era el río, y todos nos íbamos a montar en la balsas para relajarnos y dejarnos llevar por ese río.

De verdad que este escape que tuvimos fue muy pero muy relajador, sabiendo aun que debíamos volver el día lunes a la realidad. Pero en ese momento nada importaba porque había que disfrutar a lo grande. Mis queridos amigos, ha sido un verdadero gusto haber recordado estos mágicos momentos, y más gusto aun ofrecerlos a ustedes. Lo cierto de todo esto es que a pesar de todas adversidades, si nos propones una meta la podemos lograr. Saludos a todos, abrazos, se les quiere.

We could not leave things unattended because one of the attractions was the river, and we were all going to ride on the rafts to relax and let ourselves be carried away by the river.

Really, this escape we had was very, very relaxing, even though we knew that we had to return to reality on Monday. But at that moment nothing mattered because we had to enjoy ourselves.
