Mi Diario Actifit: 23 febrero 2023 // My Actifit Report Card: February 23 2023

Hola, querido hiver.

Hi, dear hiver.

I am enjoying more and more every day my facet as an apprentice photographer. I look at my surroundings with different eyes, seeking new perspectives and framing, or details of beauty concealed in supposed vulgarity. How different an image can be depending on the time of day or whether it is cloudy or clear.

Today's photograph represents the above concept to perfection. It belongs to a mural painted on a wall that from a distance of several metres looks like scribbles or stains. When you get closer, you discover scenes that are repeated all over the world on a daily basis: crews of workers at different moments of their working day. They are expressive and have a plasticity that I love. For me this is art, feeling all kinds of emotions as I am amazed and surprised on any street corner when I go to buy bread.

The author of the mural is the Belgian Jaune Art, and he painted it on the occasion of the celebration of the Festival Asalto in Zaragoza in its 2018 edition. The link to the artist's name takes you to his Instagram account, where you can see that the work is characteristic of his style.

As for my daily tribulations, today I find myself more focused. It is necessary to stop from time to time, observe and analyse if what we do is working. Sometimes we speed up without realising it and it's the circumstances that help us. The best thing is that this time it was myself who stepped on the brakes without an imperious external reason. It is easier to fix a broken toy than a broken one.

Stoic quote of the day

You don't have to get angry with things, because they don't care.

Marcus Aurelius.

My reflection

Things are just that, things. Objects that cost money and/or effort to obtain. That after their use lose all their objective value and that after our death will lose the sentimental value that we gave them. They are inert entities, without feelings. They don't care whether they are here or elsewhere. They help us, of course. They make our lives easier and it is only fair to recognise their role, as well as to be vigilant that they do not become a cause of suffering.

Can you get angry at things? Of course! We do it all the time. We give away our well-being in exchange for appearances and ostentation. And for that we need to accumulate expensive and luxurious things, as much as our wallet can stretch.

We also get angry with people. The saddest thing about this is that we put them on the same level as things. There is even a word to define the phenomenon: objectify. We strip our fellow human beings of their worth as human beings. If you turn your anger on someone, remember that the one who is feeling in the first person is you. Don't treat others as a thing, much less yourself. You are the one who matters most to you, take care of yourself.
