Hola, querido hiver.

La noche pasada ha sido lo más parecido que se me ocurre con el infierno. Me he tenido que mojar con agua varias veces para que el aire movido por el ventilador diera sensación de frescor. El sudor se evaporaba.

Hasta hace un par de días al menos cuando regresabas de la calle el patio te recibía con sensación agradable. Ahora te agobia más de lo que llevas encima.

El pobre Rocky va recorriendo cada baldosa de la casa. No aguanta más que un puñado de minutos en el mismo sitio. Y, además, tiene algo de dermatitis cuyo picor se acentúa con el calor. Al menos se deja acariciar y con eso le doy un poco de alivio.

En principio ya estamos pasando el pico y si las predicciones no se confunden o lo retrasan, el viernes bajarán mínimamente pero el sábado se levantará el bienvenido viento del noroeste que se llevará casi de inmediato estos sudores, picores, agobios y quejas. Y cambiaremos por fin los temas de conversación.

Mi reflexión

Todos nos movemos por interés. No entro a distinguir intenciones ni mucho menos a juzgarlas. Pero que es más fácil convencernos de lo que sea con ejemplos en lugar de con discursos, eso es así. Nos lo corrobora Séneca.

Siempre he rehuido de la lastima tanto como del peloteo. No deseo conmigo a nadie que practique ninguna de ambas cosas. Ni por parte activa ni por pasiva.

No soy nadie para dar sermones ni para ordenar lo que otros deben hacer. Allá cada cual con su conciencia, que bastante tengo con ocuparme de la mía. Mi mejor forma de enseñar es convertir mi conducta en el ejemplo que deseo y eso me basta. Ya es suficiente la tarea y desafiante el objetivo.

Como único consejo no solicitado me atrevo a decirte: busca buenos modelos a los que copiar hasta que tú te conviertas en uno de ellos para otros.

My reflection

We are all motivated by interest. I am not going to distinguish intentions, let alone judge them. But that it is easier to convince us of anything with examples rather than with speeches, that's how it is. This is corroborated by Seneca.

I have always shied away from pity as much as I have shied away from flattery. I do not wish anyone with me to practise either. Neither actively nor passively.

I am not one to lecture or to command what others should do. To each his own conscience, I have enough to do with my own. My best way of teaching is to turn my conduct into the example I wish to set, and that is enough for me. The task is enough and the goal is challenging enough.

As my only unsolicited advice I dare to tell you: look for good role models to copy until you become one for others.
