Hola, querido hiver.

Seguimos a la espera de que llegue la hora de la cita en la clínica veterinaria, a ver si pueden calmar los picores de Rocky. La pasada noche ha sido algo mejor que la anterior porque solo ha tenido náuseas un par de veces y de momento también está más tranquilo durante esta mañana.

Hoy es el primer día de colegio en mi región. De nuevo he visto a los niños con sus uniformes y mochilas, lo que de forma no oficial significa el final del verano. Incluso el ambiente es más fresco que ayer, como si les quisiera dar ánimos, indicándoles que entramos en época de mayor recogimiento. Vuelve la normalidad.

Mi reflexión

¿Cómo puedo aplicar en mi vida diaria las palabras de Epicteto? Lo que hago es que, cuando detecto que alguna situación me incomoda o irrita, trato de analizarla desde mi razón. Primero describo lo que he percibido, tan objetivamente como puedo y siendo consciente de que parto de una visión subjetiva y parcial.

Después llevo mi atención a lo que siento respecto a lo acontecido. Con esto busco conocer mis reacciones, los puntos débiles que preciso reforzar. A veces, incluso una emoción que se supone que es positiva me altera y se vuelve contraproducente. O todo lo contrario, me doy cuenta de que siento de forma adecuada y proporcionada a lo que considero deseable. Esto me ha permitido acostumbrarme a ser más consciente.

Si he encontrado algo a mejorar, el tercer paso es pensar cómo me gustaría cambiarlo en el futuro. Establezco una especie de plan mental, anticipándome a las posibilidades que puedan surgir. Esto es peliagudo, porque corro el riesgo de caer en la ansiedad. Así que me toca tenerlo en cuenta como factor circunstancial.

Repetir este proceso tantas veces como puedo es clave. Es el camino para la mejora continua, enfrentando los obstáculos con la voluntad de aprender de ellos y de aprovecharlos si no ahora en el día de mañana. Paradójicamente, dirigir así mis pensamientos tiene como principal consecuencia un estado de ánimo general más positivo que antes, ya que me enfoco en lo que es mejorable en lugar de castigarme y sentirme culpable por los errores. Esto supone un cambio total.

Por la mañana: paseo con el perrito, compras y labores domésticas, curación de contenidos, preparación del post de Holos&Lotus.

Por la tarde: curación de contenidos, publicación del post, tareas variadas de Hive, visita al veterinario con mi marido y el perrito.

Today is the first day of school in my region. Once again I have seen the children in their uniforms and backpacks, which unofficially means the end of summer. Even the atmosphere is cooler than yesterday, as if to cheer them up, as if to signal that we are entering a time of more seclusion. Normality returns.

My reflection

How can I apply Epictetus' words in my daily life? What I do is that, when I detect that some situation makes me uncomfortable or irritates me, I try to analyse it from my reason. First I describe what I have perceived, as objectively as I can and being aware that I am starting from a subjective and partial vision.

Then I turn my attention to how I feel about what happened. In doing so, I try to find out my reactions, the weak points that I need to strengthen. Sometimes even an emotion that is supposed to be positive upsets me and becomes counterproductive. Or, on the contrary, I realise that I feel in a way that is appropriate and proportionate to what I consider desirable. This has allowed me to get used to being more aware.

If I have found something to improve, the third step is to think about how I would like to change it in the future. I establish a kind of mental plan, anticipating the possibilities that may arise. This is tricky, because I run the risk of falling into anxiety. So I have to take it into account as a circumstantial factor.

Repeating this process as often as I can is key. It is the path to continuous improvement, facing obstacles with the will to learn from them and to take advantage of them, if not now then tomorrow. Paradoxically, directing my thoughts in this way has as its main consequence a more positive overall mood than before, as I focus on what is improvable instead of beating myself up and feeling guilty about mistakes. This is a total change.

In the morning: walk with the puppy, shopping and housework, content curation, preparation of the Holos&Lotus post.

Afternoon: content curation, publication of the post, various Hive tasks, visit to the vet with my husband and the puppy.
