Hard work pays off

Finally they made it to the finals deserving a trophy

The boy was trying hard since last few months and finally the effort paid off. I mentioned in my earlier post, how he went to participate in the State Inter-School & Y.G.T.A. State Ranking Table Tennis Championship, even though he knew that he won't go beyond 3-4 rounds because there are national level players who came there. But he was not disheartened and was taking it positively. That time he was telling me, don't worry, this will be my self evaluation and improvement track to do better. And he took it all on his own - went by school bus, couple of times came back by booking an Ola cab. I went only once, but I allowed him to do whatever he likes. And here comes the result.

They made it to the finals of the Sahodaya Table Tennis Tournament, and became the Runners up. It's conducted by CBSE Board and all schools participate in it. There were some very competent teams who lost, but that is what happens in sports - new players surprise others by their performance and get noticed. It's often said for that reason - never under estimate your opponents.

It is a proud moment for their school as this is their first trophy in Table Tennis. Here are the two teams, that made to the finals - the left hand side being the champions because they have a national player on their side.

He wanted me to be there during his finals, but unfortunately, the school did not allow me to go inside. It was being conducted at the same school where he studied for more than a decade - the indoor stadium being built very recently. I tried every possible means to meet their Principal as well, but their support staff did not allow me. Instead they went and talked to the Principal and said, its not allowed to let any parent go inside. He even came running to the gate to request the security staff to let me go. Even his sports teacher of that school (who knows us personally) requested, but then Principal's office did not allow it - he had to run back for their finals. May be the school was right, but what made me feel bad is that, I was not even allowed to talk to the Principal, citing the reason that he was busy. Even though I said I am a Parent ( my daughter is still continuing there), he did not have time. I was very disappointed and heart broken, but that is the reality - he has to now set his feet alone.

These photos were shared by his teacher - thank you a lot for that. This may be a small moment of appreciation for many, but it means a lot for the boy. A big trophy is awaiting for distribution - will post about it when the ceremony happens.

I guess the reason why they didn't allow you inside was because maybe they felt it might be a distraction. On the contrary, it shouldn't be. They should have probably seen you as an internal support system and a motivation to your son. At least it was a good outing; a morale booster for your son.

Congratulations!

And definitely a time for celebration.

That self-confidence and the conviction that I have nothing to lose and more to gain (experience) whatever comes my way is the actual recipe to success and such a mentality very often outsmarts the opponent, no matter what momentum the opponent carry from their formidable past.

I can understand your emotions, with a growing kid into adolescent a Father always lives through such accomplishments of kids, it's more than a trophy for a father.

Thank you.

First of all, congratulations to your son and also to you, it is a great honor to compete and come in second place against good players. What does not seem right to me is that the director did not allow the parents to enter.

Hello dear friend @sanjeevm good day
It's a shame you couldn't go to school to watch your son play the final series, whatever the reason, I don't think it's fair that parents should be deprived of watching their children play
My congratulations to your son for the great work done
Have a happy and prosperous week

Many congratulation to the boy and proud father.
It must be a proud as well as the emotional moment.
one reason may be that they do want that the players got distracted or may be the have not expected the gathering (may be lack of arrangement).

They denied simply saying, its not allowed, which was bad.

working hard and striving to achieve our goals is the best for us. I imagine that you must be proud as a father to see him the way he does, but it's a pity that you haven't seen him live

💪😊🏆

Let's hear it for the boy!!

That's so awesome! but why the school doesn't let parents in? Is it because of covid? or maybe there would be too many bodies already?! :P

It is a fact that in this world a person cannot achieve anything without hard work and the way we see that your son works very hard, goes to school and completes his studies on time. Due to the reason then man gets success.

That's incredible! I only recently found out that I have been serving incorrectly my entire life and while I considered my serve really good, it is actually illegal... ha!
