Redskins considering name change... how do you feel?

In the wake of upending everything in the United States and catering to a ever-complaining ultra-"woke" mob of mostly millennial whiners the Washington Redskins are considering changing the team name because of racism. This racism is met by a majority of American Indians with a "meh!" response, but the perpetually protesting masses fill in for them to fight on their behalf even though they do not want this.

Well if it happens it happens and honestly, I don't really care because I have never been a Skins fan the feel as though they are a non-issue team for the most part that can't seem to get their shit together. Seeing as how the name change is all but inevitable, here are some of the suggestions people have submitted.

The Presidents

This is a straight up stupid name and it doesn't make any sense. This is actually a betting favorite as to what the team name will end up being changed to and yes, there are Vegas odds that you can wager real money on to see if this happens.

The Hogs

I don't even know where to begin with why this is bad. I guess it doesn't really matter but Hogs? Really? One of the dumbest animals on the planet that is quite pleased to sit in its own doodoo and mud all the time? At least choose a vicious animal like a boar. However, the Skins could probably change their name to the bores because watching a game they are playing is usually not exciting at all

The Redtails

What is a Redtail? Is it a bird that I am not aware of?

Is it an airplane? The logo submission would suggest that it might be but since it has "red" in it still it sounds like this idea was submitted by a group of 4th graders who were asked to brainstorm non-offensive team names.

The Warriors

If I had to choose the name that sucks the least it would probably be the Warriors. It's got two W's in it and it flows well. It also isn't an animal because good grief why do we always have to do that. I suppose it is for the sake of having a mascot and merchandise.

Also, the person in the middle there is of an uncertain race so that should keep the PC brigade at bay for a while. But these same complainers are going to probably be offended when old-school D.C. fans turn up at the games with the classic jerseys on.

The main thing for me is that you would be pretty hard-pressed to find an actual Native American that is in any way offended by the Redskins name or likeness. In a fun article done by NBC, this is in the headline: "Poll of Native Americans’ view of Redskins name finds “proud” most common answer"

and another one, written by an actual Native American who grew up on a reservations that is entitled "Dear white people, please stop telling me that i need to be offended by the Washington Redskins."

Be this as it may the skins will likely change the team name because of this and I guess we'll just have to deal with it. Of course this isn't going to change the fact that they have been a pretty consistently awful team since the 80's and perhaps the organization might want to focus on improving that as soon as they are done with all of this silly P.R.

I'm still going to call them the Redskins.

I think everyone else will too. It will be interesting to see the stands in their first home game if and when they change the name / logo.

I'm with you on this. I'm not a Redskins fan so I could care less what they call themselves. I'll even take a cynical approach that changing a name makes your fanbase need to rebuy all their merchandise.

I think it has become official at this point and I am already seeing the groans of my friends on FB about it... some claiming they are going to abandon the team for caving to the woke mob. So much for the Cowboys / Redskins rivalry of mediocrity!

I don't really care but i do hate that their reasoning for doing it is because of mob pressure not because any American Indians actually care. I think they stand a great chance of losing a lot of fans because of this choice.

I'm just waiting for them to come up with reasons why the other team names are offensive. They will be coming for the Blackhawks no doubt, simply because an indian is on some of the jerseys. What will it be after that? Some animals are seen as too aggressive? I remember when the name of the Washington Bullets was changed to the Wizards because "bullets" promotes violence.
