Sportstalk Curation Showcase #51

Hello and welcome to another edition of the Sportstalk Curation Showcase where the idea is to highlight our users to Hive showing what they are missing out on. Gaining an extra follower or two is the aim as this is how we all grow on Hive by growing our support. The following posts are all live meaning they fall well within the 7 day window of curation at time of this posting.

Sportstalk Social TWC: My Favorite Sportsperson

First up this week is @empress-eremmy who discusses her favorite athlete which I am sure mot of you know was the Sportstalk set topic this week. Her chosen athlete is Allyson Felix which most of us would at least recognize her name due to what she has achieved. I had no idea her career was 20 years long as for a track athlete this is very rare. Many succumb to injury or the lure of enhancing performance drugs and why many have short careers in comparison.

Can evolutions in sport be stopped? Golf is trying to do so!

@fullcoverbetting discusses how technology has changed golf nd made the course way shorter than when they were first planned. Golf ball technology has made the balls travel that much further by changing the design of the core. I remember opening a golf ball up one day and seeing the inside which didn't look like much besides a solid round matter wrapped in like a rubbery latex string. Golf courses tried to stop the likes of Tiger Woods in his heyday by lengthening certain holes but all it does is make it harder for all the others who don't hit the ball as far. Surely a standard ball or a certain spec has to be agreed upon or certain golfers will seriously benefit not through skill. but the equipment they are using. Interesting topic and one I am sure we will be talking about still in 10 years time as technology will always push the boundaries of what is capable.

10 Highest Paid MLB Players in 2023

@wolfgangsport raises the salaries in baseball with the top 10 earners and this is fascinating as I had no idea. We think footballers earn a huge amount, but in comparison it is normally an American sport that comes out on top. I am sure it is the TV coverage that covers these massive salaries as these are big numbers dwarfing other sports. A top rugby player will earn $ 2million per year yet these guys earn 20 x more which is ludicrous. This all boils down to the money in the sport and what teams are prepared to pay in order to win titles. Amazing to think the top earner is 40 years of age when in other sports you would have retired long ago.

Edwards successfully defends his title, I am in shock

In sport we always like to see an upset unless you are backing the favorite as expecting the unexpected is what makes it exciting. Usman was meant to be the favorite here against Edwards and yet Edwards seemed to have won fairly comfortably. When you are fighting for a championship you have to do that much more in order to claim the title as you have to prove you are worthy of holding the belt. Edwards from all accounts raised his game and this is what we all want to see as a genuine title challenger taking his opportunity by raising his performance to another level.

Thank you once again to all the contributors for this curation show case as having such an interesting selection this week makes it a joy to curate. Until next time stay busy and keep posting and engaging.
