Sportstalk Curation Showcase #53

Hello and welcome to another Sportstalk Curation Showcase it has been a while since our last one and there has been some great posts over the last few weeks. The idea of this showcase is to highlight members of the Sportstalk community to Hive letting everyone know what we have going on here. The hope is that members highlighted possibly will receive an extra follow or two helping to build their Hive foundations. The following posts are all live falling within the 7 day window of curation at time of posting.

How I became the 11th best swimmer in Virginia

I think most of us involved in sportstalk have many personal sporting experiences we can share and this is exactly what @sports.guy55 has done with this post of his. He sounds like a talented sporting individual as he had to choose which sport to follow as he was good at a number of them. I have known a few individuals like that who went on to represent their countries and could have done so at other sports as well. At this level though unfortunately you have to choose one as it takes dedication to keep those sorts of levels up.

Michael Schumacher 'Interview'

I am glad @stuartcturnbull raised this in his post as I saw a tweet about some interview Schumacher had done, but never paid attention to this. How can he as from all accounts the poor guy is a vegetable. This in my opinion is just in bad taste using AI to create a story and there is no going back on what has been done. You cannot fix this and make it right as they need to have the full extent of the law thrown at them. A cheap publicity stunt that will be very expensive is what I am seeing. AI has it's uses but definitely cannot replace the person as in this case here as it is not real. Schumacher's family and lawyers are going to have afield day with this as what was the magazine staff thinking?

Felipe Massa wants Singapore truth - Formula 1 Scandal

@skiptvads reminds us that crookery and cheating ahs always been around in Formula One so the Abu Dhabi scandal with Verstappen winning the title was just another. This was a scam involving Alonso in order for him to win the Singapore Grand Prix. The victim was Felipe Massa who was robbed of winning the World Title by no other than Lewis Hamilton. The only good thing that happened from this is the cheats were exposed as Briatore the Renault Head was banned for life. Imagine if he was still around how bad things would be
as he was a proper scoundrel. I just believe everything needs to be above board and if cheating occurs then lifetime bans have to follow. there should be no grey areas to manipulate as the rules should be crystal clear leaving no room for manipulation.

Where will non-professional sports end up?

@cryptosimplify writes about somehting close to home as he plays Handball. I have to agree with his argument about why only certain games are televised and then are not even available to everybody as it is subscription only. I do think the National broadcaster has the responsibility to help grow the smaller sports and is not necessarily up to the bigger channels to do so. The Handball Organization needs to step up as I have to admit I have only seen 1 match on television before and that was from Germany. There would be an audience for this if it was more consistent showing at least 1 game per week. Bigger sports however take most of the budgets so it is a hard one to fight and will most likely be a losing battle.

Some really interesting topics this week and all so different which is great to see. Unfortunately of late it has been hard to find posts to forward for extra curation due to lack of engagement by users and is a must do by anyone on Hive. Please this is not negotiable and why so many posts get skipped and it is all up to you on how involved you are.

Until next time have a great week and please comment and engage on other posts.

Thanks for highlighting my article. So far I have yet to find someone who thought it a good idea.

And making note to self to be more diligent in curating community content.

Hello.

Please allow me to ask a question:

I heard that "Sportstalksocial.com" will be discontinued.
Is this just a rumor or is it true?

Thank you for an answer
