Reminder: Round 6 of the Hivechess Tournament S13 , Friday 19h GMT

Dear chess fans!

the 6th round of S13 is played this Friday, 7th Oct., 19h GMT, as usual.
The current standings after 5 rounds you can find here.

It is bullet time again!
I know this is quite short for many of you. But we have it only once per season.

Mode: 2+1 (2 minutes per game, 1 sec. increment),

Tournament Link: https://lichess.org/tournament/nDRXfWGL

The price pool contains already 540 Hive plus 510 LEO!

Rules

  • Players of all skill levels are welcome, from newbies to experts, you just need a free Lichess-account and join our team in Lichess here!
  • The season goes over 10 rounds, every Friday is one round.
  • Time mode is varying (5+0, 3+2, 2+1,...) and sometimes berserking is not allowed.
  • The winner of each round gets the number of points equaling the number of players in that round, the second ranked one point less and so forth until the one on the bottom of the table who gets one point. In order to be counted, at least 3 games must have been played. Draws before move 25 will be sanctioned.
  • Occasionally a round may be divided into 2 skill classes.
  • In case two players have the same number of points, the one who played less rounds is first. If that is equal too, then the average tournament performance decides.
  • The worst result from the season in terms of points achieved will not be counted.
  • PAYOUT: The tournament points are summed up. 70% of all Hivechess-related post rewards go to the price pool (PP). The tournament winner will get 50 Hive as bonus, the runner-up 25, the third 10 and the rest of the PP (minus 30) is divided among all players equally (40%) and according to the number of tournament points achieved (60%). 40% participation is required in order to qualify for the prices.
  • There will be special prices of 10 Hive plus 50 LEO each for the highest performance in relation to the own rating (counted by averaging the rating after the first and the last round) and for the most rating points gained during the tournament (counted from after first to last participation). If a player would qualify for both prices, he still gets 10 Hive /50 LEO only and the second placed of each score gets 5/25.
  • There will be a special price of 1 Hive plus 5 LEO in each round for the game won with the biggest upset in rating difference.
  • If I don´t know your Hive username, you won´t be considered for prices, so please let me know your Hive name in the comments! Group or badge accounts can participate but are not qualified for prices! Only individuals can get prices.

Please share this announcement among your (chess) friends and colleagues!
The more participate, the more fun! And maybe some are even interested to join Hive and it´s Chess Community?

See you tomorrow and good luck to all!

In a major update on the cheating scandal, the 72-page "Hans Niemann report" by chess.com was released, where they give very interesting insights regarding the online cheating activities and suspicious rise in performance of Niemann. But they say they won´t draw any conclusions regarding his OTB behavior.
Check it out here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11IokKgTVSXdpYEzAuyViIleSZ_2wl0ag/view

The most hilarious comment regarding the cheating situation I found was this:
"I think someone should host an annual OTB cheating tournament with really high prizes to win. The rules are: You have to cheat somehow. But if someone discovers how you are cheating, you are disqualified. You have to prove after the tournament that you cheated by showing how. Knowing all the tricks will lead to better protection of the other tournaments." source: Youtuber Karl Linek

On another note, currently Magnus, Anand, Gukesh, Rapport, MVL and many other top players are playing in the 37th European Club Cup in a wonderful village in Tyrol, Austria.
You can follow the pairings & results here:
https://chess-results.com/tnr667141.aspx?lan=1&art=3&rd=3&turdet=YES&flag=30

In round 2 Magnus played against German GM Alexander Naumann and won in great style after sacrifycing 3 pawns (link to the game).

I actually thought about going there to see Magnus live (app. a 5 hours drive), but after checking with the organizers I found out that access to the playing hall is forbidden and no spectators are welcomed at that event - what a shame.

Mode 2+1😲
It's a game where we have to make a right and quick decision.
This will be very difficult for me.
I am going to practice to end the game for 2 minutes.
See you soon....

Round one will definitely be my worse round. but yet again if it isn't counted... it is also bad for me because round 1 will certainly play a great factor in d standings as there were many players. The most maybe.

It would've been awesome to meet these guys in person, it sucks that the organizers don't allow this, especially since it would bring at least some eyes to the world of chess (for example, how many thought like you and wanted to go meet them?). The chess world some times lacks the whole marketing and PR side, it's like they don't know the normal growth strategies.

@stayoutoftherz, Will a player that played just 2 games in one round have his resulted counted as his worst performance or Will it count as a missed round as the requirement of the minimum games (3) was not met?

it will be counted as missed round and not as deleted result! For to be deleted you need participation first.
