After the break Season 14 will start this Friday 2nd Dec., 20h GMT (at the usual time)! It will go over 9 rounds and will be conducted in the classical way, well at least until round 6 😁. So read on carefully regarding the changes of the rules!

Please note that you need to register upfront
by sending 1 Hive (or HBD) to @badge-646464! Without registration, you can play but your result won´t be counted! Upfront means, if you send the fee only after the first round is played, the result of the first round still will not be counted.

The percentage of post rewards feeding the price pool stays at 70% and the @badge-646464 account will be used to accrue the rewards, so you can anytime check the size of the pricepool for yourself here. All what is there, goes straight to the S14 prices (HBD will be converted to Hive). It has already about 51 Hive (mostly from the crazy fun tournament 2 weeks ago)! Again I encourage any tournament or streaming report to set @badge-646464 as 5 or 10% beneficiary, because it is the tournament who made the report possible in first place, right? As always, any curation rewards of @badge-646464 will of course also go to the price pool!
The points for each round are distributed via the "Lighteye system", explained here!
And like in S13, the worst result in terms of tournament points from each player will NOT be counted. So if a player participates 9 times, the best 8 results will be counted, and if he is 4 times present, only the 3 best results will be counted, and players with less than 4 participations anyway are´t eligible for prices. But deleted results will still be valid for the overall performance and special price calculations.

Thanks to @leofinance and @anomadsoul, again there will be 500 LEO paid out to the participants! Really awesome!

What´s new?

The 1 Hive registration fee I had mentioned already. Unless you have sent it, your result won´t be counted in the season ranking, so don´t forget it! This is the ultimate test, if people are willing to read!

But the biggest change is that for the first time we will have a group phase and playoffs for the title. In the last seasons it was too obvious who would be the winner, wasn´t it. Therefore, after 6 rounds (and deleting the worst result), ONLY THE TOP 8 RANKED PLAYERS will enter the knockout stage and fight against each other in quarterfinals, then semifinals, and finally in the match for the champion title, while the rest of the players continues to play the remaining 3 rounds. The winner of the remaining tournament (i.e. the 9th ranked in total) has a seat in the next season´s playoff! So it is still worthwhile to continue playing! From S15 onwards only the best 7 make it into the playoffs while the 8th one comes from the previous season´s winner of the general field (only if he won´t be able to participate, the 8th ranked will be the replacement).

The exact details of the playoffs will be announced later, just to give you an idea it will more or less look like this, with e.g. having the best of 5 blitz games to decide the winner of each match ( I am open to suggestions of how the matches should look like):
image.png

There will be also a new special price of 5 Hive plus 50 LEO for the best tournament report, replacing 2 of the previous special prices. If you see an awesome tournament report, give it a shoutout, tagging me, so that I won´t overlook. The report with the most positive comments gets the price. If not decisive, I will decide by myself.

Round 1

Time Mode: 4+1 (4 minutes per game, 1 sec. increment), 70 min.arena

Rules

  • Players of all skill levels are welcome, from newbies to experts, you just need a free Lichess-account and join our team in Lichess here!
  • Every Friday is one round.
  • Registration fee is 1 Hive (or HBD), to be sent to @badge-646464
  • Time mode is varying (5+0, 3+2, 2+1,...).
  • The winner of each round gets the number of points equaling the number of players in that round, the second ranked one point less and so forth until the one on the bottom of the table who gets one point. In order to be counted, at least 3 games must have been played.
  • In case two players have the same number of points, the one who played less rounds is first. If that is equal too, then the average tournament performance decides.
  • After 6 rounds, the top 8 ranked players will enter a knockout stage to fight for the champion title, all others continue to play in 3 remaining rounds. The worst result in terms of points among the 6 (top 8) or 9 (rest) rounds will be deleted. The winner of the general section (= 9th ranked) qualifies for the playoff of the next season!
  • PAYOUT: The tournament points of the 6/9 rounds are summed up. 70% of all Hivechess-related post rewards go to the price pool (PP). The tournament winner will get 50 Hive as bonus, the prices for the other players who have entered the knockout stage will be calculated at the end of the season. The rest of the PP is divided among all players equally (40%) and according to the number of tournament points achieved (60%). Participation in 4 rounds is required in order to qualify for the prices.
  • There will be a special price of 5 Hive plus 50 LEO for the highest performance in relation to the own rating (counted by averaging the rating after the first and the last round).
  • There will be a special price of 5 Hive plus 50 LEO for the best tournament report of the season (can be a post, streaming of a round, podcast, whatever)!
  • If I don´t know your Hive username, you won´t be considered for prices, so please let me know your Hive name in the comments! Group or badge accounts can participate but are not qualified for prices! Only individuals can get prices.

Please share this announcement among your (chess) friends and colleagues!
The more participate, the more fun! And maybe some are even interested to join Hive and it´s Chess Community?

See you all on Friday, don´t forget to register and good luck!

Hello, I am in!

It is great that tournament becomes more interesting for the players with rating less then 2000 ELO but it's a pity that high level players move to next stage only after 6 rounds, when normal chess ends (I suppose the rest of games will be Crazyhouse or something like that).

No, all 9 rounds are completely regular. The tournament goes over 9 rounds for most of the players.

I love crazyhouse which was 2 weeks ago, but I feel like it gives too much power for the white player. He decides when the "mass exchange" starts, and then he can interrupt it any moment he wants with putting a revived figure on the battlefield. I feel like that variant would be better if there would be a 1-2 turn of delay between killing the piece and ability to put it on the battlefield on our side.

Hi @stayoutoftherz
I registered today with 1 Hive. However I just withdrew it from my CEX account directly to badge-646464 account not to waste time to withdraw it to my account and then to send it to registration account. I wrote in memo that it is 1 Hive for my registration.

Thanks a lot, but you don´t should have any coins on a CEX! Too fast things can go wrong nowadays and the coins are gone or withdrawals are suspended!

In a few days I'm going to withdraw most of my money from all CEXes and invest in Data Lake project.
It has IDO 7th December on Uniswap, I encourage You to read about it, this is the greatest blockchain project I have ever read about. I know You work in medical industry so it might interest You.

(Edited)

Hmm, the concept is years old, but so far too complex to roll out in practice. Would be great if it works, but there are quite a lot of "ifs" needed in order to be successful.
E.g. you need a meaningful no. of patients, but also sites interested. And also the patients aren´t even in posession of their data, most of those medical data are on hospital servers. Then there is the problem of data privacy, and finally how many users are familiar with handling tokens on the Polygon chain? How many are able to setup wallets,...?
I have seen, it is partly a Polish project, but don´t get biased by that. It is very risky.
But the biggest alert flag for me is that the team is a bunch of handsome, prestigious people but probably with no experience on these data handling issues I mentioned, and finally have you seen the distribution of the LAKE token?
Highly centralized and most is for team and various incentives, for the patients only 7%?
image.png
I would advise to buy Bitcoin or Hive rather!

PS: The registration fee isn´t yet there. Normally it takes 10 sec, please recheck urgently!

Okay, so I can explains to some of Your concerns:

  • they did research and it seems that 77% of people are ready to share their anonymized medical data for research even for free, they just don't have the possibility now or it is very hard and annoying. The token is to persuade another 23% who dont want to do it for free. Giving crypto wallet address would be optional and old people who are not into crypto, will be able to do it for free or they can give wallet of their younger grandchilds or charity organisations etc. In Poland people who give blood, obtain energy drinks and chocolates. They cannot pay fiat money for medical data, but they can pay crypto. Tokens will be a "reward" just like energy drinks and chocolates.
  • they are talking with hospitals and it will work like - patient gives consent, and hospital sends data to Data Lake. No problem with that.
  • of course I cannot guarantee that data will be anonymized properly, but when I think about it, I know that medical companies need the biggest amount of data, not personalized data. You don't find a cure for cancer by knowing what is the patient's name or address or job, the only thing they need is as much data as possible and it gives completely nothing to them to have data with personal informations. They will not be interested in paying extra for something they completely dont need. And 99% of people giving that argument are using Facebook, Google, Apple and other software which knows anything about them and they give their data for free and see no problem with that... And data will not be sold to insurance companies and similar ones.
  • when it comes to the team, I think they are great. They focus on facts and developing project, not on fluffy marketing and CEX listings. The Founders are attending like 2-3 conferences every week and more important - this is the only project they are working on, they are not running a few simultaneously.

Is 20% too much for the team? I cannot answer that question. But it seems like the project is hiring people who are believing in it, not the ones who only want to earn a lot of money.

Well, I have warned you.
The Polish market is for sure not big enough for an international pharma company to use that data. Without a global reach this project won´t attract global companies.

BTW, I still don´t have the registration fee. Please send it ASAP!

Sorry, something went wrong with the first withdrawal. Now i withdrew to my acc and sent to You and it is visible already.

The project is not bounded to Polish market :). On last AMA they said they have already advanced talks with hospitals in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, and a few more countries. It is global project. For non-Europe countries they will probably need more time due to law and other formal stuff, but they want to be worldwide.
