Description from Strava:
Yesterday was a little windy and it rained quite hard, but today is lovely sunshine, so I was feeling good as I jogged to parkrun. I set off a little later than planned, so needed to get a move on.

It was the Comic Relief charity event last night and there had been mention of people dressing up, but I think only one lady did. She may have regretted her costume as it was quite warm. We have a crowd of regulars, but there are always some visitors and we had some people doing their first ever parkrun. As I started there was a guy in front of me with a shirt listing the 50 events he had run at. I am a long way from that.

It has rained a bit lately, so we had to expect some mud and, sure enough, after the first corner we hit The Bog. There have been wood chippings spread there, but you just sink into them in places and a small stream runs across the path. The lake was pretty high and lapping the edge of the path, but it was fine for running. There were a few other muddy patches around the course, but I just splashed through.

I gave it all I could today. I still had people passing me. One guy kept stopping to walk for a bit, but would pass me again. We each have our own pace. On the last lap I tried to push a bit harder, but I was not finding much speed. I did manage a bit of a sprint at the end.

I did not quite match my quickest run of the year, but I could not have done much more today. There were 67 finishers. I would have hoped for more. We need to spread the news that the station car park is now free on weekends. It should have been before according to the conditions set for the owners, but they have been charging. Those are parkrun only need it for an hour or so, but had to pay for longer before. I can get there on foot anyway.

I was muddy at the end, but did not mind so much as the weather was so nice. A big difference to a couple of weeks ago. I took the long way home as I picked up a newspaper.

Enjoy your day and run free!

Good on you Sir! I most certainly am not a runner, the most I do is short sprints with the pooch mostly ride the mountain bikes. Keep it up!

I never thought I was a runner, but I quite enjoy it now. I need something to keep me motivated and this weekly run is great for that.

Running in the mud may not seem enjoyable but it is like you enjoyed the run though
