steevc just finished a 16.31km run, that lasted for 96 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 1209.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
I needed a long run today, especially as I only walked at parkrun yesterday. This was a variant on a loop I have lots of times. It was a nice morning for it. It rained heavily again last night, but was all clear today with just some puddles remaining.

There were lots of runners out. As I headed from Fairfield to the Greenway there were a couple of ladies behind me and a guy ahead pushing a baby buggy as he ran up the big hill. That hill is always a killer for me and I walked the final bit to the top. Then it was onto part of the Letchworth parkrun to Norton pond, which looked pretty dried up.

It is downhill through Norton to Radwell Meadows. I had not seen the sign for the cafe at the mill before. They offer ice creams for dogs! It was back uphill into Stotfold. I went out the back onto the road to Astwick. I could hear footsteps coming up behind and a guy ran past me, but he turned off soon after that. So I was on my own to head across the fields back to the main road. That track seems to go on forever, but I set a personal best on that segment today.

By this time I had done enough distance and so took the shortest way home. This was one of my longer runs recently, but it felt pretty good generally. I seem to find energy once I have been going for at least half an hour.

I have a few chores to do and then am off to an open mic with my musician friends. A few of them are already on Hive, so you may see posts from them about it.

Run free!

That is a really decent run actually you did there!

Next week is the marathon here in the city. Did you ever do a whole one?

I've not done a marathon and don't feel up to it yet. The London one is on today. I'll keep training and see if it seems possible. It ought to be really given how I'm feeling.

It seems like it is always just a bit too much of a strain on the body I find. Like the last 10 k is the one that doesn't make it healthy anymore. Maybe you should stick on halves :))

I would never be looking at running marathons more than a couple of times a year anyway. It's an endurance test rather than doing you good.

Ice cream for dogs, that's different. I wonder what's in it, flavors and what's different about it. So many questions. Lol

We don't have a dog, so I've no excuse to find out. I didn't actually pass the cafe, so didn't see how many dog owners were there, but there were plenty around otherwise.

Yeah. I wonder how many dog ice cream that they actually sell. We may never know haha. It's an interesting concept though.

Ok, does that sign say "Dog Ice Creams" or are my eyes that bad? And do people actually buy ice cream for their dogs?

It seems they do. I expect dogs may like something to cool them down too. I found this, so there is a market for it.

I would say, "Now I've seen everything," but every time I say that, something new is around the corner. Well, I guess "Dog Ice Creams" is a real thing. LOL

Good job Steve. I've just entered the ballot for next year's London marathon!

Wow! Good luck with that. I've not committed to doing one yet. It would need a lot more training. This sort of distance is what I'm happy doing.

Boy, that's a great result! I've only run 10 kilometers in my life, it was unforgettable, but frankly difficult...

Hmmm, are we going to have a direct bridge with strava soon?

I couldn't have imagined doing this a few years ago, but I now run several times each week and have built up to this. Still not ready for a marathon though.

@strava2hive does a pretty good job of making it easy to share activities on Hive. It still needs a few tweaks. The map is not quite right on this post.

You can try a half-marathon already!

I should familiarize myself with this!

I've done some half marathons. They are not easy, but I am happy to have done them. Doing that distance twice is another matter.

Yes, I agree, a distance you have to be prepared for.

Ah... 16km, now that's much more like it! 😉

I seem to find energy once I have been going for at least half an hour.

Same here, after 30-40 mins everything just seems to loosen up and and I start to get in the groove.

I want to do a run of this sort of distance each week to build my stamina. I was feeling it a bit yesterday, but not too bad now.
