steevc just finished a 6.35km run, that lasted for 39 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 487.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
The weather in the UK has been pretty wild this week with some heavy rain and wind. I would have run yesterday, but the forecast was dire. As it happened I had a meeting around lunchtime anyway, so I might not have had time. Today was much better, but then it has rained this evening and the wind has got up again at times.

I did encounter one flooded underpass and a fallen tree on my run, but they did not slow me down. I was trying to make it a fairly quick pace generally, but I was going up the big hill to Fairlands Valley Park again. I think I did pretty well on that. Sometimes I have 'cheated' a little by crossing roads rather than using the underpasses to reduce the climbing, but I did not do that this time. I was really feeling it by the time I reached the top. I took a photo looking back down. I had climbed about 20m by then and still had a way to go to the highest point, but that was the steepest part. I know it is no mountain, but I have to go with the local geography.

There were loads of geese on the far side of the lake enjoying the relatively nice weather. After leaving the park it is mostly downhill and so I could get the pace up again.

I paused the watch whilst I did a few reps at the outdoor gym to work my arms and abs a bit and then it was back to the office with a final hill to conquer.

I was sweating buckets as usual, but I had to get straight in the shower. I actually saw a fellow runner in the changing rooms. It has been quiet there recently, but I do see a few other bags that indicate others are using them. There are no lockers, but it is on a secure site and I would not leave valuables lying around.

I have been working on incorporating some extra exercise into my daily routine. You can do little things like squats whilst cleaning your teeth, heel raises when waiting for a train or going up stairs two at a time. These little things add up. I was reading an article on keeping your sense of balance. If you lose it as you get older you are more likely to get injured. You can stand on one leg now and then to test yourself. Apparently tai chi is a good exercise for it too, but I do not currently go to any exercise classes.

Run free.

Nice job on your run. We have been having some beautiful weather lately. To the point that we have been sleeping in for the morning and waiting to go out for a walk when we get home. It is good for us an the dog. We skipped yesterday because we got our Covid booster and our Flu shot in the same morning. It unexpectedly kicked our butts. Nothing major, but just that faint out of body feeling all day.

Lucky you to have some nice weather. At least it is not too cold here. Maybe the weather will settle down a bit soon. Rained again today.

I had both jabs recently, but had no ill effects apart from a sore arm. Some friends felt rough after the COVID one.

We have sore arms too. I am guessing after a day or so we will be back to normal. We have been coasting through second summer right now. Nights in the 40's, daytime temps in the high 60's, low 70's. It has been pretty great.

It's been a bit wild here too. I've had to go out looking for my bins after strong winds. They were dragged across the street. I also got my shoes totally soaked this morning when I stopped into a puddle deeper than I thought.

I've missed a couple of days of walking. Hope to get back into it today.

I saw some giant Xmas baubles got blown down Tottenham Court Road this week. Must have been scary for anyone driving there. Those doing fireworks this weekend will be hoping it improves.

I think we have gotten the same weather as you. Not even my fancy too expensive rain proof running jacket has managed to keep me dry (I should really complain about it!).

I don't mind getting wet as long as it's not too cold. I may need a decent jacket for the winter if it is going to be wet, but I seem to get by without one most years. Our climate is not that extreme. Today we are back to blue skies, but not so warm.

I have thought about reviewing some running gear I have had for a while. I think we could do with more of that on Hive.

Yes, I agree, that would be useful. I'll see if I can contribute to that, I do have some opinions!
