Morning Run: Slipping and sliding

steevc just finished a 6.16km run, that lasted for 42 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 516.0 calories.
Description from Strava:
I have not run since last Sunday as we have had snow all week which makes it a little dangerous. The footpaths tend to turn to ice. I had volunteered for parkrun yesterday, but it got cancelled that morning. The now is likely to go today as it is going to warm up and rain, but I decided to risk a run anyway.
I wore my trail shoes for extra grip and headed for the fields. To get there I ran on the road to avoid the worst of the ice. One issue is having to cross the footbridge over the railway. That tends not to get treated with salt, so there was a lot of ice on the steps. I held the rail there. All this caution slowed me down, but this run was never about speed.
After the bridge it was a nice run across the white landscape to Henlow Camp. I was surprised at how many people were out walking their dogs, but I did not see any other runners. I did see on Strava that a friend was out that way in the week. One dog walker commented that I was brave. Perhaps she meant that I was running in shorts. I did have a warm top and gloves on as it was still around freezing.
I came back a different way through the pony field. I hope someone was giving them extra food. I crossed a different footbridge that was also treacherous, but survived. Then it was back through the village, again mostly on the road. There was not much car traffic.
My daughter @matildamoment did her first 10km event in Portsmouth today. They did not get the snow, but it was wet. She and her friends were in Santa suits, so maybe that helped keep them warm.
Run free and stay safe.

Yeah walk is very important for our body and health. I am going for walk daily and burn some calories. Weather of your country is to much cold. Happy to see your little princess also going for walk in this weather. Thanks for sharing.
We were running, not walking. It warms you up.
Oh yeah running not walking. Both are gives many positive effects on health.
Why do you think I run? ;)
Because running helps to burn calories that is good for human health.
The question was rhetorical ;)
You're smashing your training at the moment and getting stronger every day.

From the month of August 2022, the Strava2Hive leader board will be determined by "calories burned"!

It's nice to get out, as you say, it's not about speed. I wouldn't run here at the moment the snow is still quite thick but think it will go tomorrow.
You just need to take it steady.
I'm very conscious of staying safe. Don't you worry.
Wow....I didnt realize there was also that much snow down there. here there was some mini snow but everything is frozen though. Tonight with incoming rain will be drama. Be careful with the running there dude!
I'm always careful. Anywhere I saw ice I went real slow. It may all be gone in the morning.
Seems difficult, all that I did today was to go to the corner shop for some milk. Hehehe!
Hey, congrats again. For shorts, of course !LOLZ
