steevc just finished a 8.65km run, that lasted for 64 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 620.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
Last week parkrun was a mudbath, but I suspected conditions would be different today. It was about -3C when I left the house. On the way there I needed to be careful as the pavements were icy in place as I jogged along. When I got on the course I could see the mud had frozen. That means it is less slippery, but it is also uneven. The lakes were frozen too. I did not have my phone with me, so pinched the image from elsewhere.

It looked like a good turnout despite the cold weather. I was not the only one in shorts and one guy had a kilt! Maybe it is a special running kilt. I set off fairly quick and it was quite busy as people sorted themselves out. I just run my own race, but I did overtake a few.

I overtook the tailwalkers with a lap to go and then saw Alan who normally runs walking with his arm in a sling. I asked him what happened and he said he dislocated his shoulder. He is a lot older than me, but I expect he will be back running soon.

It was nice to not be sliding around, but I was a little wary. I sometimes feel my foot twist a bit, but manage to recover. As I got near the finish I could hear people behind me and could do nothing as they came past even though I tried to speed up. I was happy with my time anyway and I came in the top third again.

Strava has me as 'local legend' on two segments of the course. That could easily change, especially as I have volunteered for next week. I hope it warms up a bit as standing around in this weather is not much fun. Although it stayed misty around here all morning the sun was shining up the road in Letchworth.

I hope to do a longer run tomorrow. The forecast does not look any warmer.

Run free.

8.6 Km is not easy to complete for an easy person like me and you are doing these walks on the daily basis, that's great.

It's mostly running :) You have to train to do this.

Hello steevc
The lake is just beautiful. The weather is good for running. But a continuous running of 8.65 km is not easy task.Time is irrelevant. You got to have a lot of stamina.

My task is to complete 1 km in 4 minutes. I am suffering to do that.🤣

I'd love to run that fast, but at my age it may be too much to ask.

I am also trying to do five to six kilometers every day so that I get into a routine. As I get used to it, my feet will stop hurting.

=3C parkrun that is commitment, and the guy walking with a sling, lots of people my my part of the world don't show up if it gets below +10C !LOL
I suppose it is a bit easier if you have all the right gear. Must be brutal volunteering in those conditions.

Bit colder today, so I decided not to do my long run. It can be pretty slippery when it's like this and I don't want injuries.
