steevc just finished a 8.8km run, that lasted for 73 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 622.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
It is still relatively warm, but more colder weather is coming. I was up and breakfasted in time to get to parkrun at Henlow Bridge Lakes. I did my usual jog through the village to the start.

I had a chat to a few people before we set off. The course was looking pretty good as the mud had mostly dried out. It was soft underfoot, but you were not sliding around. Combined with the temperature these were good conditions for running.

It did not look like a huge turnout and when we set off there did not seem many ahead of me. I have to resist the temptation to try and keep up with them. I let them go as I found my own pace. A few more overtook me on the first lap and got further away as we went on.

For a lot of the run I could hear someone fairly close behind me and this pushed me to try and stay ahead of him. I assumed it was a guy, but I try not to look. On the last quarter lap he came past and opened up a lead. He was a big guy, younger than me and covered in tattoos. I was unlikely to catch him again, but I kept pushing and closed the gap a little at the end.

I managed 9th place out of over 60 with my best time of the year so far. I want to get under 26 minutes though. I did get 'local legend' status on two segments of the course, but I could easily lose that, especially as I will volunteer again soon. I want to do that at least once each month this year and qualify for the 25 volunteer sessions shirt as well as getting my 100th run.

I am still feeling the effects of this run, but I am not surprised. If I want good times I have to push that bit harder and it will have an effect. I hope it makes me stronger.

Have a great weekend. If any Strava people see this I hope to see you on Hive some time. You can log your activities there and earn from them. Drop me a line if you are interested.

You are inspirational for those who wants to make running a daily part of their life. If you kept on running like this, your target of 26 minutes will be easy for you to achieve.

I post to inspire myself too. If a guy my age can do this then most people could.

I may well have a beer. I want to try and at least match my best time from last year, but I am conscious that I am older. I want to get to that 60% age rating at least and I am pretty close.

At our age it's all about GFA, age gradings and basically trying to not do yourself in!

I can at least say I'm doing better than a lot of younger people.

Was this a race or just a group run? Inside the top ten out of 60 is pretty good!

parkrun is not supposed to be a race, but people will get competitive. It is a free weekly event run by volunteers with hundreds of events around the world. They do operate in Japan.

9th out of 60 is a great effort, well done! What was your parkrun time in the end?

I am still feeling the effects of this run, but I am not surprised. If I want good times I have to push that bit harder and it will have an effect. I hope it makes me stronger.

Yep, got to push harder to get those results!

The official time was 26:17. I think I can do better, but not today.

Every time I read your post it gives me so much motivation that I can do this everyday. Seeing you, I will also start going to daily running one day.
