steevc just finished a 6.16km run, that lasted for 39 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 421.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
Some mornings I get up not feeling full of energy and this was one of those, but I wanted to run anyway. It was relatively warm out there. It had been raining and I found a couple of earthworms on the path that I moved back onto the grass so they have a chance to survive.

I did the usual jog up to West drive and started on my hill sprints. I passed the two old guys who seem to walk every day as well as various dog walkers and kids on their way to school. I was taking it easy on the way back down, but pushing hard on the sprints. I actually decided to do an extra one today. When I checked the times later I was pretty happy as they were all comfortably under 5min/km. I have been quicker, but this is one of my best sets.

There are some fields alongside the drive with horses and sheep. I snapped a couple of photos. There were a couple of ponies in one field and lots of lambs in another. Of course the lambs are cute, but we know that they will probably not be around for long. We do not tend to eat horses in this country though. There is also a big chicken run in the sheep field.

It rained a while after my run, so I was lucky to miss that again. The forecast was really wet this week, but it has not been as bad as I feared. I am off to the local open mic tonight, so I need to just refresh my memory on a few songs before I go. I have been mostly practising drums, so the guitar has been neglected.

Run free and stay well.

I only have 2 hands! Time is a limiting factor too.

I guess it is good that it rained after your run and it did not rain while you were running. The rain wanted you to stay safe. Hahaha

It wasn't heavy rain. I would rather not get soaked, but sometimes I run anyway as I have to do it when I have the time.

I loved seeing horses and sheep out on walks when i lived in a small town. I don't see them anymore now that I'm in a city. Just squirrels and birds.

There's more crops than livestock around here, so it's nice to see the animals. Plenty of squirrels here too.

You probably helped the birds out more than the worms by leaving them on the sidewalk! :) Nice job on your run. I am going to be taking a break from working out for a little bit here, but I should be doing a lot of walking, so hopefully that will even things out!

I feed the birds seed anyway. Nature needs a hand sometimes, especially as humans build on everything. More countryside is disappearing around here right now.

Yeah, same over here as well!

It's nice that you gave the worms a chance, poor feckers, I can't help myself when I see one out on the path, I have to drop them off to the nearest bit of grass.

Sometimes I wonder if they ever think. "You prick, I'm trying to get to the other side of the street... time to start my journey again." !LOLZ

It's good that you managed to miss the rain. I can't wait now for the good whether, Ireland is a bit of a washout for the next week, but who knows.

Good luck at the open mic mate, I have band practice tonight, but haven't rehearsed the songs in about 2 weeks so I'll be refreshing myself too before heading out.

It looks like plenty of worms die on the pavements and they do a lot of good to the soil, so it seems the right thing to do.

I have a band session on Sunday too that I need to prepare for. These things creep up on me. I've not done an open mic in a while, but they are always fun.

I've never done one, but I wouldn't mind it if there was a place in town that held an open mic event.

There was a group who would come into my local, Ernies - it's a nice place and good for a quite one.

Rarely they'd have any music, but on a Thursday night a group would call in and do an accoustic jam session which was a kind of free for all for anyone to bring an intrument and join in.

I only ever listened to them and enjoyed the craic from afar. Then the 'head' of it moved away and the others stopped coming in, which was a shame.

I started a local acoustic jam years ago and met lots of musicians that way. Several bands formed through that. One of them runs this open mic. He just asked the landlady if she was happy to do it. Some of the pubs around here are quiet otherwise during the week, so they welcome the business. Starting that session is one of the best things I ever did as it led to so much more.

That's deadly man, you're a musical pioneer. I've often had an idea to start up something for a few years now, we did work on a few nights upstairs in a place here, but after a few sessions it fell through, it can sometimes be tough to get people out of the house to music nights.

But the reason the thought has always stuck with me is some of the reactions afterward. Most people complain that they didn't hear about it or whatever, so I think setting up gig nights is all about choosing a night a month and sticking to it, just for people to get used to the idea of it being on.

There's always issues with venue and timing, but you just have to press on. Sometimes there would just be 3 of us, but it was still fun. I think a lot of people really want to get out and play. You just need to create a welcoming atmosphere and get the word out. Somehow people found us from a wide area.

Hello, @steevc ! Your post little remembered me of a old English Veterinarian Book tittle! I'm almost sure that is the correct reference... But not 100% sure... Ahaha Thanks for sharing your workout. Everyone can see why you are in such a great shape, mate! Ahaha

I did steal that title. It comes originally from a hymn and then a book/TV show. We still have a little of that old-fashioned village feel.
